Rockinthecasbah, I didn't see you out there (or I didn't identify you, sorry). There was another guy on an mtb, but he didn't know what the heck I was talking about when I asked him if he's from STR.
It was a good time. I'll make it out for practice next time and take pictures! I could see a 24incher in the stable.(did I say that out loud??)
Lee rocked it tonight!!

Anyone been to Ontario's Cutting Edge since they rebuilt the track under new ownership? How does it compare to the Orange Y? Never been but it's close.

I remember that I went to a track in Upland...but that was over 20 years ago. I read that the new truck is well built. I want to go there some day.

Are you talking about the track that was behind the skatepark? I raced there one time (probably 85 or 86). I raced at the Orange Y regularly in 85/86. Coal Canyon? Irvine?

Practice is from 5:30 to 7:00, and racing begins at about 7:15ish. It's a great way to stay in shape while many of the popular trails are closed, and you dont' have to bring your own lights.

Ahh damn - all this track talk is making me want to get back out there. I used to race back in the day when I was about 11-13 and then raced cruiser again when I was about 18 (cruiser). I raced at Lake Perris mostly. They were always real cool to me with my mtb. If there were enough mtb they would let us run a free class with trophies and all. We were like an opening act freak show. I am 26 now - what age grouping does that put me in?

I reopened this old thread just a reminder this was a ride in December but the Cutting Edge question fit here. Speaking of the Upland Pipeline (skatepark) I remember when I went to Upland High when the original was built. Many memories watching my friends we had no clue what a part of skateboarding history it would become. Skate parks have sure come a long way since then .

DangerSlave, yes, behind a skatepark. Yeah, that was early to mid 80s for me. I raced at all the tracks you mentioned back then, plus a few other "local" ones.

26...it depends on how many people are out there. In December, there weren't many people in the cruiser classes. I remember one night the "younger" cruiser class (I don't remember the class age name), but it had 4 riders: 8, 11, 16, and 33. The mid age group had 36, 37, 39, and 39. There was also an older class. They try to follow the ABA rules in splitting up the class, although we all thought that the 33 year old should have been in the middle age group.

Jason, not that the date on this post is from last month. After my back is better, I'll start posting them again. I went to the Bellflower track on Saturday, and I found that my back isn't better yet. It started hurting after a half dozen gate starts, and it still hurts.
