I'm sure "we" will all be out to do trailwork on those trails as well. I'm all for doing work on the STT/Luge, but I won't go in till I'm allowed to. I would love for all these trails to open up for ALL users. This is not about the VQ or CC or the WS.

Exclamation Parking for trailwork

I just spoke to Debra Clarke and she informed me that we can park at the the Sliverado Fire Station on Silverado. You can carpool in from there. Please park as far right as possble way from the building and emergency vehicles.

Others choosing to park at the end of Sliverado will need an adventure pass. The gate to Maple Springs Rd will NOT be open.

She also informed me that the official name for the Silverado Motorway will now be re-named Silverado Trail and new signs will be posted.

They are all going to need preventative work to keep them ridable, when they open back up. Do we have to wait for WS trailwork events to take care of them too?

I'm more than willing to help out on The Motorway so it's ready for the Pow Wow, but I'm also ready to work on the other trails everybody will ride.

See you Saturday!

I am too busy to do this right now but if someone has a chance maybe they should contact Debra Clark at the Forestry Service and see if trail works can get scheduled on those other trails....maybe the sooner they can be repaired the sooner the forest will open? Just a thought.

I got one too, if you need it, it can be picked up before the weekend.

CORRECT, the STT and luge is probably the most ridden trail around here so that is probably the one that should be cleaned.

They are all going to need preventative work to keep them ridable, when they open back up. Do we have to wait for WS trailwork events to take care of them too? No, you don't. If you want to work on a trail, get permission and go work on a trail. Bring your friends too.

I'm more than willing to help out on The Motorway so it's ready for the Pow Wow, but I'm also ready to work on the other trails everybody will ride. ME TOO, it just sucks that some would only be working on it for the POW POW. If I could make it, I would like to think I was making it better for our Tuesday Night Rides, and for others to experience the forest like I have been capable in the last few years.

See you Saturday!

That is like when they changed the Fabulous Forum to the Great Western Forum.....it just don't sound right. Or when they changed Irvine Meadows to Verizon Wireless Ampitheater.....infact, they should get some corporate backing and call it the Office Depot Motorway or something lame like that.

It'll be good to see you out there Crash!

Normally the WS doesn't work on The Luge, Santiago Truck Trail or Old Camp. Those are trails Trails4All and SHARE normally work on. Maybe it would be best to contact them and see if they have any dates set? I'm not sure who set up the system regarding who works on which trails, but currently those are the correct clubs/organizations.

We (WS) do work on Joplin and I don't know of any dates we have set aside for work on it. With the Pow Wow getting closer I think it is fair to say we are focusing in the trails involved in the event. I mean that is just natural right. If you had an event coming up, wouldn't you want to be sure everything was ready for it??

When work is done on Joplin, it is normally in smaller crews. There is no easy way up or down Joplin. We typically have 5-6 people head up there and get it done.

Darin I have already contacted the F/s about Joplin. And no one is allowed in the areas affected by the fire closures unless approval is granted by the PAO and they are accompanied by Forest Service personnel, as is being done this weekend on the Silverado Trail. We will have to see if it gets apporved. We might be able to get away with working on the luge. I'm pretty sure thats private property. Theres a county easement.

I was told that more work needs to be done on Motorway than the other trails in question. Motorway is easier to get volunteers onto as well since they can be driven to the top and work their way down. With the major damage to Motorway it needs the bulk of the manpower.

I was also told the FS was going to be doing work on STT soon as well.

Someone should ask about the other trails while they are out there this weekend.

I'm sure you'll get used to the new name. I bet they took out the 'Motorway' part cuz it aint no motorway anymore and hopefully it will keep the dirtbikes off the trail.

I like the new name 'Silverado Trail'. Once we get the trail back in good shape and it opens it will be refreshing to get back up there.

But anyways is RSVP'ing here on STR enough to let Warriors Society and everyone else know were comming?

Yes...go ahead and PM Cowgirl with your names and I will get the info to the Warrior's Society...thanks for wanting to come and lend a helping hand.

I also heard that the creek that needs to be cleaned out is right up by the gate in the Forest so I am sure we can get all the work done nice and quick.

Update on parking!!!

I just got a call from Debra Clarke of the Forestry Service. She recommends that we park at the Silverado Fire Station and park as far away from the engines as possible. She will post signs directing us where to park. From there, we can carpool into the Maple Spring lot. Meet at the Fire station at 7:30 to get in on one of the carpools. Registration at the Maple Spring gate starts at 8am. See you all there.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!!

Just incase you did not get this email;

To all our volunteers:

There has been a change in the meeting time and staging location of the Silverado Trail rehab. We’ll be meeting at 7:30 a.m. at the Silverado fire Station, on Silverado Canyon Road about ¼ mile from Santiago Canyon Road just as you enter the canyon on the right hand side and carpooling from there to the work site. Be sure and bring gloves, food and water for during the work and dress warmly in layers so you can peel off clothing as you get warmed up. Temps should be in the 40's in the morning warming up to the mid-60's.

It is important that you arrive on time so we can carpool everyone to the work site about 10 minutes away and break everyone up into work crews.

Lunch will be provided afterward.

Thanks you all for your help!
