Default Moab Road Trip, Saturday April 26-Saturday May 3

For the past 2 years, me and some friends have taken a road trip to Moab. I thought it would be cool to post it up here so maybe some STR folks can join us. I have posted several threads about it in the last few months. Now that it's almost the New Year, I thought it was close enough to make it official and post it up as an event and put it on the Calendar. The trip will be Saturday, April 26th-Saturday May 3rd, with both Saturday's being travel days to Moab and back home. Ride days will be Sunday-Friday. We will be riding all day every day!!

We will be leaving EARLY in the morning on Saturday, April 26th around 4AM. It is about a 12 hour drive to Moab, plus Moab is 1 hour ahead of SoCal, so it's like 13 hours. We should arrive in Moab around 5PM. That gives plenty of time to check-in, unpack, grab some dinner and be ready to ride bright and early Sunday morning.

I have reserved 2 cabins at Canyonlands RV/Campground http://www.canyonlandsrv.com/

They sleep 4 adults. All of our 8 spots are taken. GET THOSE RESERVATIONS MADE NOW IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO GO AND YOU DON'T HAVE A SPOT RESERVED WITH OUR GROUP ALREADY!!!

The ride schedule will be as follows:
Sunday: A.M.--Amasa Back P.M.--Slickrock
Monday: Road trip to Fruita, CO. to ride 18 Road/Bookcliffs area in the morning and Mary's Loop to Horsethief Bench in the afternoon.
Tuesday: A.M.--Sovereign Trail P.M.--to be determined.
Wednesday: A.M.--Bartlett Wash..."easy" ride/rest day. No afternoon ride, unless the group decides differently.
Thursday: Road trip to Fruita/Grand Junction to ride Lunch Loops area/Holy Cross and whatever else the group decides.
Friday: Porcupine Rim shuttle (going rate is $20 per person for the shuttle).

Saturday 5/3 will be spent packing up to go home. Check-out at Canyonlands is 11AM.

The schedule I have posted is what our group will be following and anyone that wants to come, is of course free to choose their own rides. We will have several in our group that have never been to Moab before so I have planned a set schedule that will show them a lot of the good stuff.

If you are planning on going, NOW is the time to make reservations. I reserved the 2 cabins at Canyonlands back in early October and they were the last 2 available cabins!!

So, if you've ever thought about making the pilgrimage to Moab, or if you've been 100 times and just want to make it 101, I invite you to join us. I am not claiming to be a seasoned Moab veteran, but there's awesome trails all around and I know quite a few good places to eat.

I will take the last spot if it's still available I have been there once before and it was great. I haven't met any of you before so maybe we can get a ride in together some time and talk about the trip.

Cool. The last spot is yours.

That's the last of the remaining spots for our cabins. I will call Canyonlands Campground this week and update the reservation and have more info on how the price is going to break down then.

Here's a few teaser photos to wet the appetite. (and I know Amasa Back is misspelled in the pic text below)

Why'd you have to post those pics? Now April 26th seems too long a wait. Thanks for setting this up PacMan.

Last April we went to Hurracane Ut. (5 of us) and had great time riding Gooseberry and Thunder Mountain and after seen your post about Moab we started planing next years trip, I suggested Moab but it will be up to everyone to decide among other options like Sea Otter, Downville and more. I will keep and eye on this post and maybe we can tag along if we decide for Moab. Will see.

Well, I guess that's a good enough reason.

I would like to come along. That is the weekend of my birthday. Let me run by my work partner to see if I can find someone to cover for me.
