Damn wish I could do this with you all. I am actually heading to Moab the week before Easter (March 23) for the EJS. I am bringing the bike this year though and plan on riding as much as I can!

Yes, yes you do. We will be riding all day every day we are there. If you aren't in shape, you won't have fun. Of course, it's our group so the rides will be casual and fun and social. But, it is a hard week of riding, due mostly to the fact that there are no rest days.

I'm not trying to sound macho or bust your chops, just offering friendly advice.

What I have figured out/found out from my previous trips:

Food: Don't bring any except for Clif Bars/Energy Gels/Energy drink mixes/etc. The prices on the energy foods at the bike shops is priced high, so I do bring my own as far as that goes. There are 2 grocery stores in Moab with good prices. It's easier to buy what you want/need there than to pack it and lug it 12 hours to Utah. I have a large cooler I plan on bringing to stock a few things. It can hold a lot, but not enough for everyone, so you may want to bring your own.

Water: There is a camping supply store right next to our campground that has filtered drinking water for FREE. They have a fill area and you can take as much as you want any time you want. I bring a 5 gallon water cooler and we fill it up daily.

Spare parts: There are about 200 bike shops in Moab, so I would only worry about bringing parts that are specific to your bike, like spare der. hangers.

Clothes: We will be riding twice a day, so I plan on bringing 2 changes of riding clothes per day. There are pay laundry facilities at our campground so you can do laundry if need be. I own a ton of riding clothes and just don't want to have to do laundry.

Bedding/Linens: Bring your own. Our cabins don't come with bedding, so I just plan on bringing a sleeping bag to put on top of the mattress to make things easier. The showers/bathrooms are right behind the cabins, but are in a seperate building, so bring a robe/sandals/etc to walk to and from.

Incidentals: Bring a lawn chair/camping chair. The cabins have screened in porches and the provided chairs suck. After a long day of riding, you will want a comfy chair to sit in when we are all sitting around, socializing and BS'ing and recovering for the next day's riding. Bring a laptop if you wish. The campground has wireless. Swim trunks--the campground has a pool. Clothes--the vibe in town is casual at the restaurants, so shorts and T-Shirts is fine. It will be warm during the day but may get cool at night. Bring a light jacket or sweatshirt. Money$$$--several of us plan on eating just about every meal out. I will be bringing a camp stove and griddle top cooker, but I don't really want to have use them.

I just found out today that is the same week we are going to Moab. After seeing your pics, I can't wait. I am giving up a Homebrew Fest and a trip to Mammoth for Trout fishing to go to Moab. I know now that it is going to be worth it.

Thanks Doug for the pics.

The Fellowship of the Ride has lost its first member/ Our group is down to 8 after NappyT had to drop out. That leaves an extra spot in one of the cabins if anyone wants it.

I did the tent thing the first year we went and it was OK. But for me, a week in a tent was a bit too long.

Do you already have a spot reserved?

I added a countdown timer to the description, at the bottom. I made the end time for when we will be leaving San Diego.

Just click on the link. It works when I click on it.

Not sure what bike you have, but I made this trip in Sept. with a Transition Preston FR (~36lbs). We rode 6 days straight, 2 rides a day in Fruita and Moab. Did all the trails mentioned for this trip (except Sovereign) and was fine.

Actually (so long as you're in shape), I think an AM/FR bike is preferred, especially for Porc Rim - lots of opportunity to go fast, get air, and break your bike. My bud snapped his Moots frame in half on PR.
