Hello STR! I took a look at the "geo-ladders" route. I have been to the ranch many times in the past and have always ridden that route. Then one time I said to my ride bud "hey, lets mix it up" and we did the route backwards (clockwise). Had a GREAT time until my buddy broke his leg coming down Sage at the END OF THE RIDE (really harshed my mellow).

Anyone wanna try it out, we end up with about 2.5-3 hours of riding about 18 miles (there is some extra credit available)?

A few months ago, a few of us rode the usual loop, then rode it backwards. It sucked going backwards--just one jerk's opinion though.

Yeah, there's always a couple of jerks in every group......

......

............ I'm the other

One thing with the reverse loop, I can ride the whole route, no dismount and huff'n it! The only bummer is Cougar trail is done UP HILL, so we miss that flight, but there are other "pay offs".

Ride'm

mtbchip [12-21-2007 04:44 PM] - Bringing a few more. My buddy and I have been taking a "different route". We will not hijack this ride, but "introduce" an alternative! Hi Dee HOO!

Glad to have you along. However, the route is set.

Or, park on the street.

Enjoy!
DDB -- Here's a photo Allison posted last time -- turn left here. You could miss the sign which is on the left-hand side. Have fun!

The main intersection for it is La Honda Dr, and El Norte Parkway. And doing a search for Dixon Lake pulls up better results than requesting directions for Daley Ranch.
If your coming down the 15( south bound on the 15 from temecula area) , exit at El Norte Parkway, go left, follow that for several miles, you will have to hit a lot of traffic lights but it is a straight shot to La Honda Dr. At La Honda dr, there will be a sign for Dixon Lake, go left here, follow up the hill to the top and park in the dirt lot on the left.
I hope this helps.

I noticed the same thing at another trail last weekend. The trail conditions would have been near perfect, but all the hiker tracks and horsehoof post holes mad some of the trail almost unbearable. It was as if they were there when it was raining. This is a trail that cannot be ridden within close to a week after prolonged rains, its just about all clay. I only saw minimal mt bike tracks. What really got me about it was the equine tracks. No horses allowed there, but tons of tracks.

I must say, I carpooled with seat sniffer today, and I was quite apprehensive for reasons I'm sure you all understand. I was pleased to find out his screen name in no way indicated any propensity to want to sniff anything. Phew. The only thing I think I take from said screen name is his welcomed sick sense of humor. It was a pleasure to meet you and ride with you today. After I talk with the wife tonight and get permission for my next ride I will pm ya. Good ride today.
By the way, next ride, I'll bring a couple brews for afterwords.

Are horses only aloud on certain trails there? And what's with leaving your animals shit all over the trail? Are horse people really that filthy? The one broad was cleaning her horsey's hooves of poop in the parking lot and just left it there. Is this generally accepted? Or get one of those poop catchers on your trusty steed. If horse shit is ok then so is mine. I won't eat anything but straw for a week, see you on the trail

I always wonder why I have to clean up after my dog when they don't clean up after the horses.
