I doubt that any of the O.C. trails up to Main Divide would be opened since they just barely finished making the announcement of full containment of the Santiago Fire, and they still have equipment and personnel mobilized up in the area.

As of this morning the following trails/areas still shown closed.
Maple Springs
Blackstar
Skyline
Los Pinos
Main Divide (North and South)
Beeks Place
Sierra Peak
Indian Truck Trail
and probably more that I did not list.

Just make sure you verify that any area you are riding this weekend has officially been opened.

And more important; make sure you stay on the traditional trails once we have access to these areas again. There is a big temptation to start riding different lines because now there are literally hundreds of animal trails completely visible that look very tempting to follow.

Just give the areas the chance to come back to their pre-fire condition without placing any additional stress on the habitat.

I'm very anxious myself to have a look at STT, Old Camp, and the Luge; but will need to wait for the official opening.

See ya on the (crowded) trails

Call and check first or it will be a wasted drive to San Juan.

Good news for sure!

Blackstar on Sunday sounds like a good plan for me.

Ok here is the latest at 9:45am;
Main Divide is closed from Beek's Place to Indian Truck Trail.

Silverado Motorway is closed

Harding truck Trail is closed

So you can go up to Beek's and no further, also up Lower Holy Jim and no Further. Lots of out and backs is better than nothing

So here's a good one. I'm riding up the Aliso Creek Bike Trail near the Whiting Interpretive Center and come across a 5-gallon gas can sitting in the middle of the road. Seems like the fire crews would be a little more aware of leaving combustibles laying around unattended. Reported it at the IC and they went out and picked it up.

Didn't think it would look too good to be seen riding towards Cook's carrying a gas can or I would have picked it up myself.

Default Status of Maple Springs?

Is Maple Springs closed? If so, are there any plans of reopening it soon.
We are trying to plan our annual Thanksgiving ride to 4 corners. If it is still closed, we are thinking about San Juan, although it will be hard to bring the coffee and pastries up to Cocktail rock....

Yes, Maple Springs is closed as of right now. Here's a link to a page that lists all the closures.

Maple Springs is in the close area of the map. I was at RockNRoad Mission Viejo and spoke with Traci and she was saying Aliso Top of the World. Not sure when it'll open. I doubt by next week. Who puts on this ride? Here is the link; PDF of Santiago Fire Closures

Crews would never intentionally leave equipment lying around. They dont ever want to get a call saying their stuff is somewhere where it shouldn't be. They might have been in the dark and just overlooked it. It wouldn't have been a bad thing for you to pick it up and take it away, taking away the possibility of someone causing trouble with it. Either way, you did good.

Default Cleveland Natl. Forest Open - Luge / Old Camp

The order opening Cleveland effective Nov. 20th can be found here:
http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/cleveland/co...irestorm.shtml
I am going to ride this weekend to see the damage. Count me in on a trail group if someone would like to coordinate.
