D'oh!! Got me dead to rights there. Well-played, sir.

Are you going to the sale, J_Sims? Cuz I can probably dig my old crutches and cane out of the garage, if you're interested. No walker or Rascal, however.

Default I'll be there!

I have some non-mtb stuff to get rid of, like a Sirus radio. If you want you can strap it to your bike like a boombox. Ahh, just like back in the day. Any takers?

I think we may need name tags for this event.

QUESTION- With such a large group, has anyone given any thought to WHERE (in the parking lot) we will hold the sale?

I feel it (may be) unfair to hikers and non-STR members if we stake claim to the area we normally park our cars. Where will THEY park? Will THEY be upset with us? Will someone file a complaint?

The bottom parking lot is HUGE! Maybe we could move to either the central or the western end of it? How 'bout the UPPER LOT? Never anyone up there. How 'bout we just forget I said anything!

See Ya' Sunday~

On the same note, anyone check with the city about this swap meet an whether any permits are required? 57+ people laying out goodies in a city parking lot has got to attract some sort of attention.
Hopefully its not from the cops.

So what time does the ride start? I guess I'll try to show up around 8ish to do a loop before the sale then post loop after everyone shows up?

Dino makes some good points that bear consideration. The upper lot is all but abandoned on Sundays, and just might be the better venue.

The lower lot worked excellently for Swap Meet 1.0, but that was a lifetime ago. The site, exposure, and response has grown substantially since then, and an adjustment seems wise.

This should actually serve as a good gauge of STR's phenomenal growth. Last time saw a rag tag collection of folks hawking stuff out of duffel bags, but this one might just rival the Cypress College Meet! O.K., maybe not yet, but we're well on our way. Regardless, it's looking to be a good size turnout, and will definitely garner attention for both good and ill. The more removed we are from the other users, the lower the likelihood for conflict and cause for complaint. I mean, we have demos, shops, and individuals coming...it will be beautiful mayhem!

As for permits and such, know that nothing has been pursued. This thing's sheer size has me stunned, amazed, and stoked, and if it goes off w/o a hitch, personally, I will consider us lucky. I don't expect anything spectacular, but a "talking to" could very likely take place. Depending on this year's result and next year's growth, a permit inquiry will likely be made before this happens again.

In the meantime, I say we give the upper lot a shot. Certainly can't hurt, and very well might help.

What say you? Speak up, time's short!

I have to agree with Dino and Ladd Jasper. Reminds me of when I see the police harassing the person selling flowers at the off ramp. I know nothing about what you need (permit wise) to sell items for cash on city land and nor do I have anything to sell but for the sake of not drawing negative attention I too vote for the upper lot.
