The XC out there is good, as is the DH. The DH can get kinda gnarly at the beginning of the runs, but it never gets crazy steap or crazy rutted. The drops on the DH course are small. The bit of exposure and rockiness at the beginning is kinda freaky. Granted, I only did this one run over and over at Interbike, so I don't much.

The XC riding isn't so gnarly, but I was on an RFX for the rockiest part of it. It's not really armor worthy, but the downhill is. The XC is cool because there are fast, smooth swoopy bits (albeith a bit sandy and pebbly) and some pretty rocky bits (not huge rocks). If you want sustained climbing you can always hit the fireroad. On the single-track the climbing is more dispersed - comes in short waves, so you never get that tired.

Oh, I know the XC stuff is good, was there last month. And you are right about the armor also, however, one good fall alone and IMO it could be bad... So I would prefer to have someone to ride with...

I like riding XC too, but I'd only do an hour or two, as I just don't get to ride DH as much as I'd like to! I think you can shuttle the xc course too on that shuttle btw.

I only rode Diva and G-string last time I was out there and those trail aren't too difficult. And like Sauce said the top is pretty gnarly but you can always walk what you can't ride. BTW I was riding my Nomad and I am by no means a great rider. If you stay on the blue squares and ride within your ability, you should be fine (but don't fall off any cliffs like sdyeti or Evil Chochula did.) With that said the DH can get as crazy as you want it to get. If you go just ask Roger about Ginger. He won't ride that trail and he is an exceptional rider.

I also rode an XC loop while I was out there and from a technical standpoint it wasn't too hard, but the route we took was very narrow and pretty exposured for a good part of the ride.

No one will call you a wuss for riding with armor and/or a FF helmet at Bootleg, even on the XC trails. Just ride within your ability and remember that the penalty for failure is high out there, but it is an awesome place to ride!! I will definitely be out there next time.

BTW here is the Bootleg Canyon website and you guys can check out the trail maps on there.

really it's just a minor flesh wound.
But I don't get all the thread removed until after your Bootleg trip.

ChumbaJason [12-05-2007 11:12 PM] - I might be doing that race that Crash is hosting I am going to give as much support as I can afford.
mullarks [12-15-2007 02:53 PM] - I am wavering cause I leave for China 2 days after this trip.
jfromlv [12-19-2007 07:42 AM] - I am really hoping to be able to make it, keeping fingers crossed

Denmother, just a heads up, Sauce, Stinky and myself will be leaving at about 5am so we probably will not make it by 9AM so no need to wait around for us.
