Default San Diego:LPQ @ 9AM (Starting at the BB fields)

Look for Blue Nissan SUV w/ Hitch rack and black bike. See you all at 9 AM.

Going back to LPQ to finish what I started. Going to add Tunnels and DMM this time. Total ride I'm guessing will be about ~20 mi. This will be another slow ride. So everyone is welcome. Total loop will take about 3 hrs.

Anyone else free Saturday morning?

This would be a good ride for n00bs or folks that haven't been on a ride with anyone from SD chapter of STR yet.

Have you ever done the single track in Lopez Canyon?

Nope. Only gone as far as the parking lot. Never past it.

The stuff in the bottom of the canyon is sorta flat, but the climb out is kinda like cobbles only steeper and a bit shorter. It's fun to go back down.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=San+Di...&t=h&z=18&om=1

That link works in IE, but Mozilla wasn't doing it right.

I know about it I just never rode there. I have only started at the SV end a few times and that was years ago. We can do it all if you want.

mtnbkr [11-23-2007 10:38 AM] - After the climb out of Lopez canyon, there are several ways to return. One is to follow the trails along the rim to Camino Santa Fe and take the bottom of the canyon back west. See: http://mtnbkr.smugmug.com/photos/224591710-L.jpg The trail in the middle of the photo that goes down into the canyon looks like another option. Carl
Would it be better to go the other way?

I don't remember taking this path in or out of the canyon. It looks rideable (or at least hikeable) in these Google Earth images:

Still another way, is to go west, and take the trail down to the parking lot.

Great ride today everyone. Sorry we all couldn't finish the ride together. We had another great turnout with 8 STR riders. We also met a few more during the ride. The San Diego Chapter continues to grow.

Ride Stats:
Distance: 20.4 miles
Climb: Didn't set my GPS right sorry.
Time: 3:38:01

The line in red was our route today.

Here's the profile.

I didn't email him. Not sure if he has had time this weekend to post. I will email him. If that goes bust I will take all the pictures of you at Daley you want.

He's already started. If you pull the root, you'll see.

Default Pictures

I have not posted pictures here before, so I've put some of the pictures at
http://mtnbkr.smugmug.com/gallery/3888906

I don't know how to embed pictures, but will make a couple tries. Here is a picture of our female rider:
