Default San Clemente Single Tracks

San Clemente single track beckons... for those that want to burn a little turkey and pecan pie fat off the day after Thanksgiving:

Meeting at 8 am at Steed Parking lower parking lot at the end of La Pata. For those that haven't been here, there is more single track trails here than any other place in SoCal.... and they keep building more and more. I hear the reason is to keep the toll road from crossing this state owned park.

Whatever...I plan on riding for 2 1/2 - 3 hours. This is not a beginner's ride ... but it is a fun one!

99.9% single track, 100% fun! Short climbs, switchbacks, bridge crossings. It's in San Clemente. 5 south exit Avenida Pico go left, rt on Avenida La Pata. Park is on the right hand side just past the skate park. 10 miles will work you because of the constant up and downs.

Talking

Several riders have emailed about how hard is this ride??? It's as hard as you want to make it. I believe to get the most enjoyment out of this area, you should be a fairly good rider or you'll tend to think you're in over your head. I usually encourage beginning and weaker riders during Gene's Newbie Rides... but not this time. If you can't keep up, I will leave your bloody bones by the side of the trail to beach in the sun... now, wanna ride?

Great ride today, gentlemen. Thanks for showing us the trail, OMR. I have no doubt I will be back soon to find that sketchy bridge you mentioned.
