Default Shuttle trucks

I can take only two bikes but I can fit 7 people in my Pathfinder including myself. The two last seats are not amazingly comfortable but if you've ever taken the shuttle at Fontana you should feel right at home.

Keep in mind you might want to dress a little warm, I don't completely trust the thermometer at the Wilson Observatory site but it's reporting 50F right now. If it's foggy you can expect to start the ride above the cloud line and ride down through it. Elevation at the start will be a little under 5700 ft if I'm not mistaken.

Steppie! You will be missed!

I will be bringing up the rear on this ride and suggest we do a head count at the top, another at the Hotel and then a final at the parking lot.

I am super psyched that so many have decided to do this ride, should make for a great RR.

Thanks!

Mott

Im kind of sketchy of the kind of ride im getting myself into-how difficult cardio wise and tech wise will this ride be??? Is this more of an advanced riders only type deal and if so i wouldnt want to go and end up being the "Party Foul" by slowing everyone down.
Also, can anyone give me a guestamite of how long we plan on being out riding so i can have an idea of how what to expect (mainly, i need to tell the GF how long ill be gone and get the okay )

Thanks!!!
There is no such thing as a Party foul here. I'll be pushing my poor Dh bike up just about any uphill.

If you have done the San Juan trail this will be somewhat similar with more exposure.

The run back up to get the cars takes about an hour. Just pray no motorcyclists go down. Last two times I've done Wilson run bikers went down shutting down the Crest.

Very different from what you guys did.
This is correct. haven't had a motorcycle issue yet and pray we dont. The drive from the JPL parking lot is approx 23 miles. 19 of it on winding mountain road.

With regard to SHUTTLING, it is my hope we will have one (maybe 2) Dakine bed pads at our disposal...

Sounds like fun. May go if I see that I have peeps to hike up the climbs w/ me. =). Hate holding the goats back.

Oh, and I cant do much for shuttling bikes up to the top but can serve as a retriever.

I'll probably be shuttling Wilson but would be starting early at 7.

Im trying to work the schedule to make this ride and if so i have a Ford Ranger that can help with the bike shutteling (only fits me and 2 other bodies, uncomfortably, inside truck).
I will also be coming from the OC for anyone wanting to carpool-Anaheim Hills.

Stay tuned...

My car is shuttle useless too, but I will be more than happy to drive anyone back up to the cars. I have a chevy trailblazer that already stinks so dont worry about your personal funk, it will blend in nicely.

I live in Anaheim Hills and I might be up for a car pool. My mom raised me to NOT take rides from strangers but everyone I have met from this forum has been really cool so far, but if you pull out a candy bar or something, I'm getting out and walking.

I'm in Anaheim Hills. I have an SUV that can hold 3 bikes and 2 other people comfortably, or 2 bikes and more people.

i wonder if my bike would fit the bill?, i see fat tires, longer travel forks, and armors. Sounds like a good adventure ride. exposures? i need to conquer fear.

Hey, just for clarification, we are meeting at the small wedge-shaped parking lot at the top of Windsor, right? When people say "JPL parking lot" I sometimes wonder if they really mean inside the actual JPL parking lot. Thanks for that info, and I can't wait for Saturday!

You're right. the parking lot actually is on Windsor, it overlooks JPL. We would all probably need double top secret clearance to park at JPL.

[FONT=Verdana][SIZE=2]Take the I 210 Freeway towards Pasadena to the Arroyo/Windsor Exit. Travel north from the exit off ramp on Windsor Avenue for about 1 mile. There is an unsigned parking area to the left.

Meeting time is 8AM
