Default Palm Canyon Epic - 12/1

This ride is fun. Be fully prepared for a long day full of climbing and descending. I believe the ride is around 30+ miles. Click here for a recap of the ride Last years RR. Typically the group meets at the IMAX theatre and shuttles to the top from there. Don't be confused though, shuttling this ride doesn't make it easy. Here are the details:

When: 12/1/07 @ 7AM (At IMAX)
Where: IMAX Theatre (in Cathedral City)
What: Palm Canyon Epic

After the ride, we usually hit up this Mexi place to eat and drink .

Let's figure this out. Post any questions...

Looks like we will have some rain to pack down the wash for us tomorrow. It looks like the weather will be a little chilly and windy...Nothing we can't handle! See ya guys there at IMAX @ 7AM.

Hey bro,

The ride is definitely still on. Meet at the Imax in Cathedral City @ 7AM.

I want to make sure that you know what we are hitting up. As long as you are prepared, you should be fine. Make sure you have some sort of thorn protection aka: stans, slime tubes, tuffy liners, etc. This ride can be a big pisser if you get tons of thorns and flats. We should be on the trails for 5 hrs, so bring enough fluids, food etc. The total ride is 30 miles.

It is a point to point ride so we need to shuttle up in a few trucks and leave a few cars at the bottom to pick up the trucks afterwards. We will figure the car situation out then...

We should be cruising at a decent pace due to the lack of people so... be ready for a moderate pace ride. Have you ever ridden out here before? Where do you usually ride?

Look forward to seeing you there man.

Craig

Thanks for the reply Craig,

I haven't ridden in the area before but have read up on this ride in a few places and have been waiting for a group to hit it up.

I'm not concerned with distance, fitness etc as I am in decent shape but am a bit unprepared for thorn protection. What I will probably do is throw a 2 ply DH tire on the front and rig up a liner with a cut open tube... don't have any slime or stans but this should do the trick unless you know of something that would work better. (layer or 2 of duct tape?)

I moved down here from BC not too long ago so usually ride more technical stuff at home. Have been trying out some of the areas around SD lately, usually doing 15-20 miles. I don't fly on the uphills but I should be able to keep up.

See you guys at 7am. I have stuff to prepare...
