Default San Diego:Sycamore Canyon @ 8 AM (Poway Side)

I am riding Sycamore Canyon, Saturday morning at 8 AM if anyone wants to go. The pace will be slow since I'm not fast. Doing the whole loop including Ridge Trail and the singletrack out near the Santee end.

So if you haven't been and want a tour this might be a good ride for any weekend warriors or newbies.

FYI: I need to be home by 10 AM.

So Poway Road, to Garden Road, and then Sycamore Canyon Road? Sorry, I don't know the area that well.

You'll go pretty far on Poway Rd, and it will start to bank left at a light. That's Garden Rd. Turn right. I think there's a 7-11 on that corner. Go down Garden a ways. When you get to Sycamore Canyon Rd, there's a split in the road where the turn is. Follow the curve off to the right. Sycamore Canyon road weaves around a bit and dead-ends at the staging area. If you can't get parking on the dirt lot, you can park on the street.

Keep an eye out for angry horse people. PacMan had an interesting confrontation with a horse person.

Yep, all they way down Poway Rd, if you feel like you missed the turn go a few more miles. You can only make a right turn onto Garden Rd. The intersection before it will be Midland Rd. The rest of the directions given are correct. It takes about 15-20 min to get to the trail from the I-15.

Poway is the only city in the SD county that is zoned for horses in town. We have them on all over Poway and throughout the neighborhood's going from Poway Rd to Sycamore Canyon. So be sure to yield to the horses they have the right of way and the numbers to back there agenda's. Most are cool but some just hate MTBr's.

That one really had it in for Doug. I don't know if you saw that. It was an interesting start to my first STR ride.

Sorry about that... Honestly, I have only seen horses on the trail a few times in all the years I have ridden there. 99% of the time its a non-issue.

Good ride. I'm drinking some beer to recover.

What happened to the 20 miles the GPS was showing when I left?

Yeah, we lost altitude too. Somehow it was 1000' when we left.
