If anyone is going to by up in the SF/Bay Area next weekend and wants to ride, maybe we can put something together.

Do you have a place or a time in mind?
My wife and I will be up there in Foster City from Monday through Saturday next week. My parent's just started MTBing so they want to go ride up around Crystal Springs and probably along the Bay some place. Easy, fire road stuff probably. But I am just looking forward to riding with my family. We haven't done that in 20 years and it is going to be blast whenever and where ever we go.

I will probably do some riding up on Mt. Tam. I'll be staying in Marin. Just found (on MTBR's norcal board) what looks like a fun ride on Thanksgiving morning starting in Fairfax.
I still have such fond memories of family bike rides. Have a great time with the family. I might try and get another ride in on Saturday morning. I'll post it up if I know ahead of time.

I wish I was going. I last rode that Mt Tam loop over 15 years ago. If I recall it was a 25 mile loop that ends with the famed repack downhill. Beautiful scenery when you drop into the valley. Watch out for the rangers on horses around the blind corners! They used to enforce a speed limit.

Hi guys,
I'm doing just the opposite... I live in San Francisco but I'm down here in O.C. for the week. If you're looking for rides up north, check out the norcal-mtbr.com forum. It's pretty active. There are two traditional Turkey-Day rides... on near San Jose (the Kennedy Hill Climb) and one up in Marin (the Fairfax Appetite Seminar). Both are reportedly fun... I've never ridden in them since I'm always spending Thanksgiving in SoCal, but I have friends who will be riding in both. Fairfax is probably about an hour from the city... about 15-20 minutes to get cross town and over the G.G. bridge, and another 20 minutes north on 101, and about 10-15 minutes of city streets to get to Fairfax. If you do the Fairfax ride, you'll get to ride some fun Tamarancho singletrack before hitting the fireroad up to Pine Mountain. Mt. Tam is a bit closer, but is all fireroad... though a descent down Eldridge grade is a bump, rocky, fun experience. If you park in downtown Mill Valley, you can ride railroad grate up Mt. Tam, Eldridge grade down the other side (but not all the way down), and then pick up Indian Fire road to bring you back to Mill Valley. Another option is just to ride your bike from the hotel (in Union Sq.) to the Embarcadero, and then follow the city coastline up and around to the Golden Gate bridge, ride across the bridge, up Conzelman ride (paved) and then into the Marin Headlands. |

Anyone want to join me at the Fairfax ride? Need to start early but many have said it's a lot of fun.
Let me know if you are interested. Lynn
