Damn, I have been itching to do this one again. Perhaps next week I'll be well enough to go for it. Anyone else feel like up and down SJT under the next full moon?

How hard is this trail? I haven't been and I want to try.

2 long sustained fireroad climbs. 7.5miles up with 2k ft of climbing. The night view over Corona is well worth the climb.

Trail is not bad at all. A little bit of climbing and bang! You are at the top!

Just spoke with Steven- aka Ch4os- and he thinks a nice route would up Blackstar, down Skyline and back up Blackstar
if anyone wants to hit Skyline but not go back up I can take 3 bodies and bikes back around via the 241 to Blackstar. Mi casa is maybe 5 minutes from Skyline and its all downhill!

Hey guys, just to be in the know, call the Trabuco district office at 951-736-1811. I know Skyline is open, Black Star was opened this weekend but the website shows closed now. I called the rangers today, but being that it is a holiday, they're office was closed. Call in the morning before heading out. Above all remember the posting guidelines, see guideline #8, may not be illegal, but if it's closed, same thing.

Just some simple guidelines to follow. Most of it is simple common sense.
  1. Be respectful.
  2. Your posts should be constructive. Any member posting for the sole purpose of increasing their post count will have the posts deleted.
  3. Corrections to other’s information should not be condescending in nature. This is a forum for the exchange of ideas and information. You are expected to remain civil and express your thoughts in a mature manner.
  4. Threads are expected to be kept on the original topic. If you want to discuss another subject, feel free to create a new thread in the proper forum.
  5. Posting pornography (ANYTHING over PG13) is prohibited.
  6. You must have a post count above 25 to post a for sale ad.
  7. Anything deemed to be SPAM or SPAM in nature by the admin or moderators will be deleted. Any account used for the sole purpose of advertising a product, company, or service will be deleted.
  8. Any posts or threads about riding known illegal trails will be deleted.
  9. The socaltrailriders.org administrator and moderators reserves the right to edit or delete any post/thread we deem necessary.
  10. Enjoy the ride

Hey Gene, I'm not too familar with looking for open & closed trails, but the pdf I looked at Updated 11/10/07 shows Blackstar open. Steven posted the same map in this thread.

I mean really....Do you honestly think that a ride would be posted if it was not legal? (Gene this is not directed at you, but the assumptions made today are quite lame).

In all fairness if in fact Blackstar is closed I'm sure everyone that has rsvp'd yes, respects the closures due to fire or other reasons and will not do the ride.At least I would hope so!

Erm...........Arent you missing an opportunity to let people know which trails arent legal??? I know a lot of people who ride trails that are out of bounds and they dont know better. If you jsut delete the thread then your opportunity to educate jsut got flushed away.

As a side note - I've never seen that list before but some of those things are a little bit churlish, this isnt a police state you know - its the internet.

Thanks for the info and the reminder on the rules but AGAIN I am going off of 2nd hand info.
If it closed ok, if its open ok.
Gene, Do you really think I am going to post a ride that is using a closed trail?
If so then delete this thread.
I will call in the am and see what they say.
Until then relax and go for a ride..j/k you know I love you like a brother!

Don't shoot the messenger. I'm trying to keep everyone informed. The web site isn't always up to date that's why I call the ranger office to be sure the the info on the site is current.

Like I said, I'm just reminding everyone to be cool. I haven't deleted any thread, because nothing illegal to my knowledge has been posted. I know everyone is itching for ride. With all that's been going on with closures and re-openings. it can get a bit confusing especially with lack of info. Unfortunately, the Trabuco district office is closed for the Veteran's Holiday. I would call in the morning to be sure.

I also thought I should "moderate" this before it gets out of hand.

I know you wouldn't and I did go for a ride. Lower HJ to Trabuco and yes I was told by the rangers that it is opened. Could not go toward Upper HJ because of closure even though there were no signs stating that.
