Ok, I realize that most of us don't need to hear this, but as there are going to be 2-3 rides from the STR crowd alone AND most of us will be sporting STR or Path (or other locally related) jerseys, I think that we need to be overly cordial and nice to every other group or individual that we run into out there- especially with that freak that we all had to petition against
(sorry for bringing that up again, godfather- I only ask forgiveness) So, remember your rules of the trail (basically we as MTBers yield to all and as MTBers, we yield to those MTBers climbing while we're descending, and like in skiing/snowboarding, the faster is responsible for the slower on the downs) ...And the most important part: Don't forget to say "Hi!"* as you pass all hikers and other riders- I'm sure we'll get some grumpy hikers, but an entire group of people saying "hi" seems to make them a little softer around the edges to the point that you can at least get an acknowledgment. Also- you have a bell that's not on your bike? time to throw one on- got bear bells that you can hang off your hydro pack?- let's be known for being the "nice guys" out on the trail by EVERYONE. Hikers do appreciate bells ringing, and I know this from experience with several "thanks for the bell" from hikers. Lastly- offer to help all that appear to be having some issue- even if it's just advice. Basically, remember what's on your shirt and live up to that logo (except for you Arrogant Bastard jersey wearers) *unless you're in major focus pucker factor and saying said greeting would result in a crash- at least a smile in their direction would be cool, i guess. I'd rather be climbing...

As a teacher, I completely agree: never hurts to hear the basics again.

Especially at Del Cerro right now. They're a bit touchy at the moment. Kill them with kindness!! Doesn't hurt to remind fellow riders on the trails either. Sometimes they're just not aware of what's expected when it comes to trail etiquette. A little education doesn't hurt.

Great to point out Ethan.
I'm not sure how many noticed, but when doing up the route, I tried real hard to avoid the over populated trails. As in NO Coyote, or Rock-It. Cholla will be a bit crowded, but at that early, I'm betting on it mostly being our crowd. And once we get back to Lynx, I've got the feeling we'll be a bid spread out by then. Everybody enjoy your rides! ![]()
