Default Thanksgiving weekend in Sedona?

I was just chatting with my gf about what we're going to do for Thanksgiving weekend. She suggested Sedona, and said it's a beautiful place (she's visited there twice). I have never been there, but I've seen a lot of awesome photos on this site about that area. Obviously, we'll be mountain biking.

It would be cool to have a few STR folk to ride with. Is anyone interested in going? Other couples would be nice, too. My gf is still at a beginner level, so these won't be fast rides. And fortunately, she's not too proud to walk technical sections (her second time on an mtb was the advanced trails at Gooseberry - I break 'em in the hard way ).

We'll likely drive up Wednesday night - or at least a majority of the way, and finish the drive on Thursday morning. We'll return on Sunday. We'll probably camp somewhere, but those who don't want to camp could stay in a hotel (we may).

Lee- Just a few days ago, I was "chatting" with a few STR members on visiting Sedona! Not sure about Thanksgiving though!

If you do go on Thanksgiving, would you be interested in a return trip in December?

I will be out in Prescott on Thanksgiving and will be riding Sedona a day or two. Know the trail system out there very well and would love to show you guys around. There are places to camp in Oak Creek Canyon fairly close to town.

Dino: Scott, Lynn, I and others always spend the week between X-Mas and New Years in Sedona. PM Lynn for more info. We have stayed here in the past, not easy finding inexpensive rooms in Sedona. We start some of our rides (Secret Trail System) right from the hotel.

What days will you be riding Sedona? We will be in the AZ Thu-Sun. Not sure which day we have planned for Sedona yet.

Wow, it sounds like Sedona will be jumpin' over the weekend! Thank you for the suggestions. It would be great to hook up with all of you up there.

Dino,
Like last year, we will probably go to the Moab area for the holiday break between Xmas and new years. It was great last year, because no one was there, and the camp grounds were deserted.

Sedona rocks. My friend lives there so I get the pleasure of visiting often. Unfortunately, I've only had the chance to ride there once when I first starting riding but I still had a great time by myself, trying a couple trails out along the creek. You guys are going to have a blast out there .

Step, i will be in Prescitt Wed - Sun. I will be staying with my parents again and decided to drive so i can bring the bike.

Lee, my pops and i would be down for a ride, he's not the fastest and has no problem walking tech areas as well.

Thanks for the great idea. Some friends and I are thinking about doing a mtb trip for thanksgiving, but only have about 3 days for it. This could be it.

I sugest that all that can make it met at The Bike and Bean in Oak Creek Village Friday 23rd @ 9am. Sounds like we might have a crew. We can go out Llama-Broken Arrow Trails to Chicken Point and Submarine Rock...great introduction to slickrock and Sedona.

For more miles we can jump the highway and go to Budda Beach.

lee - won't be there (bro in law getting married over that wknd) but hit sedona a year or so back. imo deans call on trails is a great intro. one of the good things about sedona for noobs (ur gf) is not huge anount of climbing. a lot of short ups/downs that could derail a beginners momentum but mostly all doable for someone just starting out. can't remember the exact name but have dean also take u to huckaby or schnebly
