Spinning my wheels

After many hours of driving, Man blong Gaua (Dan), our friend Steve, and I made it to Moab mid-day on Friday. After a quick lunch, we decided to try our luck making it to Bartlett Wash to hit up some of the flowy slickrock and bowls...it was not to be. Apparently, the trail is more difficult to find than we anticipated, and we threw in the towel try to find it.
Instead, we headed down the road to ride Klondike Bluff Trail and Baby Steps, which proved to be a very fun ride with a little of everything thrown in. We began at the state road and rode a few miles of jeep trail to the real trailhead. By that point, we were feeling the effects of the warm temps, not eating much good on our drive up, and not drinking enough water. But, we made the best of it anyway. Once on Baby Steps, the real fun began! We climbed up some cool grey slickrock and made our way onto the challenging singletrack. There were some quick climbs and descents thrown in, and we reached the top in no time. From there, we began to play around at the top of Klondike Bluff Trail (where we came out) and had a blast freeriding on the slickrock. It was so fun to find your own line and be creative. We passed a lot of folks who opted for the easier climb up the slickrock from the Klondike side, but we were certain we got the best of it, because we got to flow on the slickrock all the way down. We ended with a fast ride out on the jeep road. Plans for Day #2: shuttling Porcupine Rim in the a.m. and if we have the energy left, Slickrock in the p.m. Stay tuned... start to the Klondike Bluff Trail sdyeti and Man blong Gaua fall colors in Moab Baby Steps turn-off splitting two rocks on Baby Steps just follow the signs! I myself started to hate it after the first few miles. Very repetitive and no scenery.

Pacman - if you had trouble finding Bartlett maybe this will help. Or ask a local bikeshop. It is WORTH finding and riding.
