Liz, I was right behind you when you banged your ankle. I am pretty sure you hit it on your peddle when you were going up (succefully at first) some rocks between a tree.

Thank you so much! I was clueless as to how that happened. It was so unremarkable. It seems ok. Just stiff and sore but not sprained.

Once againVic you have the clearest pix. Good shots!

To bad we didn't get a front view of that rock garden, it was a little intimidating from that point of view.

The people at work kept saying the same thing the hikers did. "You're going to ride that"? Are you nuts?

[SIZE=3]It seems you guys started @ Chantry and up Winter and up to Wilson, followed by going down The Wilson Trail into S. Madre. Did u all ride back up Santa Anita to Chantry? That would suck after a semi-long ride. Looks like fun times for all. Nice pics. Good call, folks!

Nope, our ride guides were smart enough to leave cars at the bottom of Santa Anita and shuttle up to Chantry Flats parking lot.

Naw Joe, we weren't that motivated. I think Silent Bob aka Good Ol Slappy would've done it though.

Thanks for the pics everyone. Much like Pain Freak, the memory of our Wilson Ride still has me grinning!

One of the COOL thing about group rides is the fact (in this case) 13 people shared an experience! The people we met in the parking lot..... the (2) freeirder's who chose not to wear helmets.... the anorexic looking freerider whose BALLS Pain Freak was busting... ..... the olympic level hiker who climbed that steep trail like it was a beach path (we busted his balls too), the angry elderly hiker who thought we were ruining (HIS) trail..... the group of hikers who watched each of us attempt to clear the sharp and rocky hairpin.. the 500 year old tree..... the history of Wilson.... the people who warned us about the rattlesnakes... the stories... the laughs.... the crashes..... the blood.

THIRTEEN PEOPLE KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT! For those who are "thinking" about joining a group ride- I am confident you will be happy that you did!

Last thing. With regard to the FEMALE HIKERS whom we kept meeting up with-- they were training for a hiking trip. They leave in two weeks for TIBET!!!!!!! The one girl has the female specific version of my OSPREY backpack. Was helping her to improve the fit. Also gave her a few tips (i.e. height adjustment/ placement) of her LEKI hiking poles. Another memory compliments of STR!

So, you gave her tips on height adjustment, and placement of the pole in your hand?

First of all, I want to thank everyone for joining in on the ride. And I thought it would be just and me. I was going to post my pics last night but no internet at home. Maybe I'll bring the camera into work tomorrow.

Still thinking of what a great ride and group we had. The climb was as steep as I remember but forgot how scenic it is. The downhill was more fun than I remember. Gotta send a thanks out to whoever did the trailwork on the lower half-it was sweet. Glad I brought the big bike. I rode alot more of the trail this time. Nice to meet and ride with Dirtmistress and Granpa for the first time-probably won't be the last.
