Default RR: 24 Hours of Moab and the Grand Canyon

My family and I made our annual trip to Moab to do a little racing, riding, drinking, eating and reuniting!
I have a friend from the 612 -Mike- fly out and be our wrench along with racing with 2 friends from the SLC - Ryan and Dr. Joe- along with their families/support crew and last but not least Steven - cH4os - from STR so we had quite the crew!

The drive is a drag when you have to pull trailers but you don't really want to tent it in the desert if you don't have to, needless to say we arrived on Thursday morning, set up camp and started our "vacation".

My daughter Madeline and our crazy puppy Penny

Throttles were a blast out there!!!

My favorite camper, completely cool!

Over the shoulder shot of Mike and Ryan

look closely at all that lovely sand!!

The bottom of the sand climb, this thing sucked at 3 in the morning

Mike making it up after the sandbox

One of the multiple rock slab sections

The start, a lot of racers ready to go!

Steven with Granny

Steven heading out on his 1st lap

My daughter fared a bit better then we did. We were 49th out of 93 in our division but 151st out of 403 overall. Proud to say I had the fastest lap on the squad, not bad for a ssing clydesdale!
I even paseed Nat Ross, because he had a mechanical and got passed by Chris Eatough like I was standing still. Those guys are the real deal!
She got 3rd in her 24 Minutes of Moab race, she was pretty excited!!

Steven back from his last lap and it was beer-thirty!

The squad 24 hours later

After we were set to hit the road, we decided to take a little detour and hit Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon..it was beautiful!!

Maddie

The Grand Canyon

Cheesy family shot

The views are ridiculous!!

The shot of Traci wifying STR on the road

Goodtimes! If you have not made the Moab pilgrimage I highly recommend it and if time permits, hit the Canyon just wish we could ride there....I heard rumors you can ride somewhere on the Northridge, that would be epic!

No kidding, she always wants to "pre-ride the course" with daddy. This time after each of our racers would come in she wanted to know what the course was like? how'd it feel? and how do they feel?

We do have a little racer on our hands

I cried when her training wheels came off, Neil will cry the day they get to ride a course together.

Smile waiting

I was waiting for this report ever since i ran into you at AW the other day. Sounds and looks like you all had a great time. I really enjoyed the report but what i like most of all is that you are pumping up your daughter so much. When all is said and done thats what counts the most. Your the man bud, i cant wait to get out on another ride with you....
I will try my best to catch up!

No, Neil will cry as she's passing him like he's standing still. Trust me, I speak from experience!

Beautiful RR guys!
The Grand Canyon pics are awsome!

Yes I have rode it...Google the Rainbow Rim Trail. Problem is that it is truley remote. Jacob Lake is remote and Rainbow Rim is miles out dirt roads. I would go it and if I could get a cabin at Grand Hotel North Rim or camp trailside.
