DR Fontana Demo Days
Justin and I woke up to the sound of lots of rain around 5:30 a.m. I text messaged Wally to let him know we'd be leaving an hour later and showing up at 9:30 to try to let the rain sink in.
We pulled in around 9:30 and it was sunny out. Perfect! The three of us got in a lap before heading back to check out the demo arena. Lots of biking demoing going on when we got there. Wally walked around like a kid in a candy store and finally settled on the Cannondale Perp for his first DH ride. We caught up with Adrian for the first descent. Justin endo'd pretty badly about halfway down. He's got a nasty contusion above his knee (see photo below), scraped up the back protector on his flak jacket, hurt his ribs, and managed to get a hole in his STR jersey. It's a nice war wound. Wally also checked out the Turner DHR with a Fox 40RC2, which he seemed to enjoy. We wanted to check out Sunday's, but they were out ALL day!! We hit up the 4X track for a few runs at the end of day. I rode on my Demo 7, but Sharky and BFlo were on demo 4x-ish bikes. I'll have to check out one of the Brodie's tomorrow. Wally on the Turner
 Me   Wally on some rocks  Rich Houseman (I JUST missed him skying the double right after this)  Justin on the 4x track  Wally checking out the Demo7 on the 4x track with clipless pedals on platforms  Great day. Lots of cool stuff, and the manufacturers were all cool. The 6Point's and MKIIIIIIII's sat at the booth most of the day. The Sunday's? Not so much! All the good bikes were out all day  Not much else to report... I crashed pretty good on my knee and it hurts to pedal, but I'm moving around a lot better than Justin! Hope to see some of you out there tomorrow.

We had so much fun but got there at about 1:30 so many of the bikes were out but jumped on a few Brody bikes and spent most of the afternoon on 4x track switching off between Brandon (BFloFoxRider) and Todd (Destroyer). At 4 when they were shutting down we got to talking to Matt Medore who owns Nicolai (races pro DH) he was the nicest guy. He pulled one of his guys off their sweet hardtail BMXTB so we could take it for a few runs and we all fell in love with it!! Said the frame alone is about $1700. Want that bike so bad.
 Dreaming *sigh*.Great meeting Craig (CJWally) and seeing all the STR faces and THANKS Nancy and Roger for the snacks. Perked the energy up and we headed for the DH course to get a run in after the demo. Played a bit at the lower garden. I'll add some pics in the next post. Great photos Allison see ya there tomorrow. i posted my recollection of my crash on my blog on sponorhouse.
i am worked. i hope to be able to ride tomorrow.  awesome DR allison! the guy with the camera didn't do that bad. (she yelled at me and said i took horrible pictures today) |

for everyone that noticed.... yes that IS my tag from mammoth when i went in AUGUST
hey almost forgot to give my $.02 about the bikes i demo'd today... i only demo'd 4 though, 3 of which were brodie's first i tried the brodie dissidin i beleive... i liked it alot... after a few runs i realized the QR was loose and after i stopped i lifted the bike up and the rear wheel fell off... not good second i borrowed sharky's demo which was the brody holeshot.... a hardtail 4x type bike... third i tried the brodie zealot which i lovedd! it rode nice, and seemed to be set up perfect for me... lastly, i tried the Nicolai BMXTB RACE which is their hardtail 4x/ dual slalom/dirtjumper bike and i fell in love with it to the point wheree i might have one shipped form germany! HIGHLIGHTS: saw 2 of my buddies that race for coates and they were tearing it up. got to hang out witht the STR buds including, SHARKY ALLISON, MECHMANN, DESTROYER, ROGER, NANCY... i love hanging out with them cuz they're so fun to ride with! got to try some world class 4x bikes and fell in love with one... now to get the money LOL just riding period... DISSAPOINTMENTS: Brodie is supposed to have world class 4x bike and everyone swears by them.... however, it seemes that they didnt prepare... besides bringing brand spanking new bikes, they were not readyy... for example, the wheel fell of and i could have gotten hurt.... also, the wheel on the bike i rode the HOLESHOT, was taco'd and we showed the guy and his reply was " oh um thats because the bead didnt pop on when i pumped te tires up" .... yea right, anyone could tell that needed to have spokes tightened and get looked at... thirdly, the first zealot i tried to ride the derailler cables were too short, causing it to skip very badly... i took it to the guy and he just gave me another one and tried to fix the one i gave him back... dissapointing how they couldnt be prepared... i mean its not a big demo but its consumer testing and thats the best type of exposure they can get... well my $.02 hope to see everyone out there tomorrow! You guys suck! I've been home sick in bed since Friday. I did get out briefly on Friday afternoon to see the drug dealer (The Path) - bike parts are addicting, right? Unfortunately, they didn't have what I needed (Adrenaline did, though). However, I still haven't felt like working on bikes - I'm really that sick!!!
Anyhow, I woke up this morning and saw the rain. I was hoping that rain had cancelled the event, or seriously took the fun out of it, so I wouldn't feel as bad laying in bed watching movies all weekend. And based on how I'm feeling now, I'm pretty sure I won't make it tomorrow.  And so you guys had to break the "bad" news to me. Looks like lots of fun! Thanks for sharing the pics and the vids.
