Default Beeks or Bust a.k.a. Gene, Gene the Climbing Machine

Meet up with Chris and Gene for a ride to Beeks.

Upon arrival at the gate we discover that Wal-Mart is not the only place with "friendly" greeters. Appears our old friend Mr. Art Tuttle was out preaching the gospel to anyone who would listen about private property, mtn bikers suck, yada, yada, yada, or is that blah, blah, blah. Anyway, we "let him talk" pretended to listen, smiled a lot and merely started our ride.

Pretty much uneventful and "quick" pace ride to first switchback. After riding through stutter bumps/water bars, appears Gene decides Chris and I need to pick up the pace and in what I believe was three or four down strokes was barely in sight.

I'm not sure what Chris was thinking but it quickly becomes evident that I’m not gonna be on his back tire during this ride so merely get in "my speed" climbing groove and keep the cranks turning. (for the math guys/gals and engineers Gene's speed = my speed =

Gene was certainly cool about it and periodically slowed his pace (way down) so we could catch-up. Nice guy I think until he jumps out again and within a blink is 1-2 switchbacks ahead of us again.

So we keep climbing, and I think just before the first cow catcher come across a rider just chillin’ saying he saw a bobcat cross the fireroad. We wait a few, no kitty so resume riding.

Most rest of ride was the same to top. Once atop we hang for a bit, and start the fast decent back to the trucks.

Someone mentions grabbing a bite and next thing were heading to Chronic Taco for some big a$$ burrito's courtesy of Senior Boats (Thanks again Chris!!!)

Overall a fun ride with some cool guys (Gene just playing bro) and great weather for a ride in the SA’s

Enclosing a few pics for the voyeurs.

It was a perfect way to end my morning.(I worked last night) Thanks Adam for a great ride. Nice RR and pics as well. The weather was absolutely perfect, couldn't ask for a better day! Let me know if you decide to do this again during the middle of the week. Mon, Wed or Thurs mornings are good. I'm sure those others who don't work normal hours will join in. Thanks Boats for lunch. That burrito was huge!

Thumbs up Yep...

That Grasshopper Genus is really riding strong these days... I had trouble keeping him in sight on the Kernville trip last weekend. A better guy to ride the river with, you could not find.....

I sense the force is strong in this one!

You mean you're not supposed to carry the kitchen sink with you? Damn.

Thanks for the ride! Good call on Blackstar, Adam. I couldn't ask for a better ride. No crashes, no mechanicals, good post ride food, and we all finished pretty much together.

Thanks for waiting for us Gene. I wanna grow up to be like you.
