Today Sprockethead and I took his nephew Matt on his first mountain bike ride. Matt pounded out a little over 5 miles on his 20 inchers. Single-speeding his little Redline throughout Santa Rosa Plateau. Here's a sampling of the ride.
Matt and I prepping for the ride This 7 year old showed us how to ascend the hills without gears. Cruising through SRP Andy and Matt taking a much deserved break Matt and Annie posing Are we finished yet? Great ride! ![]() |

I'm riding there Tuesday night. Great trail for the little ones, but keep them close. My friend owns a small ranch out there and sees mountain lions on a regular basis. I've seen the pictures of at least 6 different sightings. Lots of deer and other wildlife in that area.

Ann, I see you busted out the big bike for this ride. Very nice Andy get him hooked while he is young, if he rides like you, he will have mad skills when he grows up.

Awesome. I love to see the future of the sport hitting the trails. SRP is a great place to start kids out too.

![]() I am emailing his PAPPA (right now) with a few bike ideas! HAHA! ![]() What did P&D (i.e. his parents) think of his first ride? How did he like the ride? Too long? Too short? ![]()

You guys are ambassadors! It's so cool to see little kids standing and hammering up a hill. Priceless to see them overcome their fear of downhills and see that transformed into a maniac.
Great job! C

I'm just kidding. He was great, Matthew had such a good attitude about riding. He even said, this is kinda cool, but where are the jumps? |
