RR: Tijeras Creek Tuesdays #02

We had a good ride this morning on Singletrack Angel's 2nd Tijeras Creek Tuesday Ride. This was a cross-post on STR and the Trail Angels site. We had a pretty good turnout. Three STR peeps and four TAs.

We started at Beebe Park in Mission Viejo and dropped in past the skateboard park. We then climbed back out at Curtis Park and then did the Gilleran Drop back into the canyon. At the Tijeras Creek/trabuco Creek Junction we headed up the Tijeras CReek Trail for an ass-busting climb up to Las Flores.

Then we cruised down, crossed Oso and dropped into the Waterworks. Man that trail at the top is getting pretty bad and needs a re-route. Anyone want to volunteer to help me with this?

After the usual fun, flowing trip through Waterworks we headed back up Canyon on the Arroyo Trabuco Trail. We did several creek crossings and passed through "The Jungle" which was quite cool and soothing in today's warm temps. The tree that was down has now been removed. I stopped to clear away some low branches and bamboo that the ranger's crew left behind.

After that we continued up canyon to RSM Parkway where we climbed out and rode back along Alicia for a ways. Then we took the Naciento Corridor Trail back to the cars. If you're interested the ride data is here:

Sorry Peter...my bridge approach was just as bad just no one down there to document it.

Next weeks Tijeras Creek Tuesday Ride will be good. Mixing things up a bit and heading out onto Chiquita Ridge.

We meet at 8:45 a.m., different locations around Tijeras each week. Next week we meet at Canada Vista Park in RSM. There's more info in the Trailhead forum.
