I thought that it was a nifty excuse why you need another bike to add to your fleet ![]()

Darn, I tried to ride Fullerton Loop tonight and stay in the middle of the trail. But.....someone had made 2 lines on every trail and pushed all the sand in the middle. I guess from now on I'll have to walk the loop, cause I wouldn't want the "Bike Police" to arrest me for riding the easy lines on either side of the assigned trails. LOL.........................
I know, why don't you solicit donations and put up poles and flags (like a race course) and force everyone to ride down the middle of Stair Steps and Rock-it. Teehee........You might also have to hire a traffic cop or you could designate alternate days (one for up and one for down).

Don't move that rock...
Don't widen that trail... Don't build ladder jumps in National Forests... I am not blasting project_d for his post. I am just a little tired of everyone telling others how a trail should be ridden. I mean why should someone walk their bike because someone else feels they are ruining the trail? Besides, I don't get it... How does a wider trail affect the middle line? Is it harder to find? Is the temptation to ride the p-line to great to overcome? If you took some time to look around, you may notice some of the new fun stuff the wider trail has exposed. Since I am on a rant, here are a few other things that I would like to b!t#h about: 1) Rocks will be moved, trails will grow wider, Nazi ladder killers will knock down your wood stunts. Trails change, quit whining and deal with it. Are we roadies or mountain bikers? (no offense roadies ) 2) 'Uphill riders have the right of way' is a generic rule of thumb that does not apply to all trails. Some trails are inherently downhill... I am not suggesting an uphill rider dismount. How about simply moving to one side of the trail so the downhill rider can pass? Do we really need 10' clearance to pass? 3) Helmets... I think they are great and wear mine all the time. If some other rider decides he doesn't want to wear his helmet, thats his choice. After all, it is a calculated risk and in most cases, the person taking the risk is in a better position to make that calculation. Besides, we have enough nannies in Sacramento, we don't need anymore on the trail. Same goes for eye protection. (For those that mis-calculate the risk, well its nature's way of purifying the gene pool.) 4) Helmet-less riders with no health/life insurance. Be responsible for your actions. I do not want my tax dollars spent on your bad choices. nuff-said. Last edited by kentonn; 08-29-2007 at 09:38 PM. |

The last time I went OTB was about 3 years ago running my SS rigid down Stairsteps. I had a smooth flow going till about 2/3rds of the way down when my front wheel acted like it had no suspension attached to it and simply "stuck".....up up and over and doooown. I guess when it's steep, you fall further.
Gosh, that trail is too fun. It's like Lynx except it's got mostly rock instead of dirt, technical trail features instead of stutter bumps, and requires a long hike/pedal back up to your car. |
