Default RR: Luge and the Tree of Death!

Goodtimes last night at the Luge!
Thanks Nam, Tim, FreeMan Dave and Chris for coming along.
A really fun and mellow pace, I have never "cruised" the Luge before and it is a bit tougher going slow then bombing!
A bit hot last night, average temp was 75!
Huge props to Chris for coming along, I have been pestering him for weeks to hit the trail with us and I think? he had fun
Not too many tarantulas last night-8?-, I think there still may be one in Dave's Camelbak though
I saw another Tarantula Hawk so Tim and I pulled over to witness the carnage but alas no mortal combat last night!
The tree of death that got Tim's ear last week "reached" out and went for my eyeball...I was lucky to ride away with just a cut...that tree, a chainsaw and I have date next week, just kidding forest service people and tree huggers but that tree is asking for it!

Here are some pix from last night:

Chris "clearing" his lungs!

Top of the road climb

26er Zenmaster night climbing

Sunset

City Lights

Nam cruising by at the top of the last big climb

UFO'S??? THe start of the descent down the Luge

My favorite shot of the night, Nam cruising thru

Thanks for a fun ride guys! See you next Thursday

Chris - Neil said you had a fantastic time last night! Everyone was so proud of you! Huge props for going out and trying a trail outside your comfort zone and in the dark TOO.

YOU ROCK

I ride with Chris often and what I appreciate most is his commitment & concern for his fellow riders. I hear the favor was returned last night.

To Piggy back on Justins thread Chris (SAR boats) is one of my hero's!

For the record: I am not the sharpest pencil in the box. Lets follow my train of thought (or derailment thereof) yesterday:

Hmm, I smoke, I haven't eaten all day, I have cracked ribs, a torn ACL, and an arm that doesn't work...I think I go for a ride at the Luge. At night. Yep, that will be fun.

I have to admit that I bit off more than I could chew last night. The loose stuff wasn't too bad but the constant little stepdowns throw my balance off. I think I'll wait a while before trying that one again. So, back to the loop with me. (The spiders were way cool tho)

Thanks to Neil, Diamond Dave, Nam, and Tim for waiting on my slow, robo-anchor a$$. And thanks for making sure I was ok after I crashed. twice.

And thanks to Traci for the words of encouragement.

I did. First crash was fine but on the second on I landed on my cracked ribs. Ouch.

Wanted to go full squish on this ride and I don't have the scratch to buy one of those groovy new 29er ones. But someday...

the best part was when Dave decided to keep going down luge by himself while we were still about halfway down and yelling " DAVE!!! watch out for the spiders!!!"
