RR Holy Jim, Upper And Lower
Tim(m210), Rich(Steamrolen) and I decided to do the Holy Jim "lollypop" loop. We would park at the Trabuco Canyon wash(VQ/CC finishing area) and ride in. The weather was great. Not too hot, about 78 when we started. We got to the trailhead and started to climb up Lower HJ.
The trail conditions like most trails are dry and loose, but not bad considering we've had no rain in a while. By the time we got to the top of Lower HJ, temp was 94. Once we reached the top of Lower HJ, we continued on the Main Divide to Upper HJ. Upper HJ is very dry and loose in some sections, but still not bad. As always the views up there are great and considering the lack of rain, the trail was in fair shape. We do need the rain as all the streams were totally dry. We only came upon 3 other riders and a few hikers. Not bad for a Saturday. Here are the pics. Not too many taken on the descents, just going too fast to pull the camera out. |

Nice ride report Gene. That is one the better rides in the Santa Anas. I did this ride last year at night. That was defintely a ride I will never forget!!

Nice RR Gene. The photos turned out really good too. I was out riding in Aliso (no camera) with a few friends. Canyon Acres was baking hot. I can only imagine the temps on upper Holy Jim! Oy Vey

Sounds like the ride turned out well... mine didn't... well, later it did! Check out my Ride that never was RR and you'll see why. Good pics BTW. OMR
