Default TAHOE teaser pics

Just finished 4 solid days of riding in the Lake Tahoe area with the MTBR crew. Back in Mammoth now for the week but too tired to make a good RR.

Very nice, my two weeks up there starts in a couple of weeks, can't wait. Did you guys make it over to Hole in the Ground?

Matt, nice Homer pic from the overlook. Did you climb up to Marlette overlook from Tahoe Meadows/Tunnel Creek Road or up Sunflower Hill from Marlette Lake? I did it once from Tunnel Creek and it was tough, hoping that from Marlette Lake will be the easier climb.

We rode the Flume Trail the day after the race at Downieville. The views are absolutely amazing. The Flume Trail itself is easy and non-technical, but it is worth it because of the scenery.
Next time I would like to check the other trails in the area. I heard good things about Mr. Toads ...

Mr. Toads AKA Saxton Creek Trail is on my short list and will ride it this trip. I hear it is a long tough climb no easy ways to get to it.

Yepp, Mr. Toads is a sweeet trail. Defintely one of the best trails I have ever ridden. We rode Toads on Day 2 starting at Heavenly on the Nevada side. Today we decided to hit Toads again since we had so much fun. The huck picture is from Toads.

Like I said, expect many more pictures!!

Your right and wrong Dean. hehe.

On our Day 2 of riding it was a really difficult 20 + miles on the Tahoe Rim Trail to get to Toads. I was worked by the time we arrived at the top of Toads.

Today we did a shuttle to ride Toads. We parked at the bottom of Toads and shuttled to up to the TRT I believe off of the 89. Just 3 miles climbing on the TRT then 7 miles of Toads downhill. Awesome way to ride Toads with little work.

We did Tahoe 4th of July 06 and rode Toads and Flume and a few others. We sort of shuttled Toads, off Highway 89 I think it was, turned out to be only a 2 or 3 mile climb to the top. Lots of technical rock gardens to challenge you on the way up, cleaned most of them. Then the downhill, boy what an awesome trail. The trails there are so well maintained.

Flume was fun also, made a 30 mile loop of it, went out to Red House and climbed up the back side.

Can't wait to go back there!

Everything we rode this trip was unaffected by the fires. We did drive by the burn area in South Lake Tahoe. I dont think any riding trails were affected by fires.

Did your TRT/Flume/Red House loop include dropping the Chimney Beach trail? I was up there the Wednesday before the gathering and did Mt Rose/TRT/Flume/Chimney Beach. The descent down Chimney Beach was one helluva rip!

Hmm not exactly sure of Chimney Beach. But we did descend a bitchin trail that came out on highway 28 a few miles south of Sand Harbor. The trail started at the top of Marlette Lake and was unmarked. Sopposidly a secret trail....

Was the trail marker at the top where the singletrack started labeled AIL? It is on the maps and labeled as open to bikes on the some of the maps I have.

Default chimney beach

I think I did hear our leader "big boulder" call it Chimney Beach. He seemed to think there was some gray area as to if it is a legal trail or not. I don't think the locals want much attention drawn to it. I think the steep climb to get to it will limit the number of riders it sees.
