Pre-Path Sale Oaks Ride

We had a nice ride around Oaks this morning before heading over to The Path.
We headed up Chutes, down Waterfall (aka Mountain Goat), up the 3 "B's", and back down Chutes.

The new sign at the top of Goat.



The Goat trail has a bit of a re-route to it. While we were at the top getting ready to go down, we talked to Maureen the ranger. She said that there was so much complaining that the County contacted Trails 4 All http://trails4all.org/ and had them come out and "access" Waterfall as a trail. They came to the conclusion that the top area, that is steep and loose is "un-safe". Maureen said that they(?) hired a group that came out and did the re-route. Now, I do have to say that the re-route really isn't that bad, and yes, it still hits the waterfall rock section at the bottom.
So, please, PLEASE, stay OFF of the old route. You won't be missing much, and it'll help keep Oaks open for us to ride.

Back to the ride.........

Gene schooled us on climbing, while Mike showed us how to fly! Craig climbs as fast as he decesends, Joel threw in a lesson on crashing, and Tigh, Roger & Nacey reminded us that we ride because it's FUN!!
Roger also encouraged me to "keep pedaling" into the jumps.

I forgot I had my camera with me until Mike started flying. I got it out just in time......

Man, it was a lot of fun!!

Great to see all the others down at The Path for the sale. When I left, they were still REAL busy.

Fun riding with everyone. I'd love to clean Chutes next time I climb it! Just a bit too dry and sandy. It was short but a sweet ride. I'll post my pics when I get home from work in the morning. Only the 3rd time I've ridden the Oaks, never disappoints.

I slept through my alarm and got a late start. Fooled around in Blair Witch, then climbed the B's and caught up with everyone up top.
It been a while since I've been to the Oaks and I was not feeling it today. My tail was dragging from the start.
It took a few shots to get my timing down. Here are some pics:












The Path sale was fun. I want some gloves like Craig's. Thanks to the shop for the Sunday hours.
