Default RR: Santiago Oaks 7-7-07

Darkness leads to light.
Light leads to enlightenment.
Anticipation of expectation weighs heavy on the heart of the rider.
Dust filtering through parched lips.
Sweat once again blinds the eye.
Heat falls like a anvil on fire on the shoulders of the rider as the legs know the truth.....you are going up the first B!
sorry about that, I just felt like getting "wordy".
I think it was from watching the Tour again, Phil and Paul are masters of description.

Thanks to the all that made it saturday morning for our little ride: Jason, Willie, the guy who lost a cleat bolt and was stuck in his pedal -see the pix-, Gabe, Diamond Dave the Doggie Dental Dandy, Dell, Tim, Dave- White Nomad-, Francisco, Shane and his buddy, Zeke, Jay and Steven!
It started innocently enough, Gabe was running a little late which gave Steven enough time to down a 24oz Newcastle...mmmm that was looking good!

The Doggie Dental Dandy, Grandpa fueling up and Francisco with his shiny new red Evo!

Steven, Dell and Jay

So onward we went and as we a filed down the first little chute "the guy whose name I cannot remember, sorry!" was making the turn but his bike was not following and his was shoe was pointing in right direction....he took his shoe off where we then tried to pry the spring off the cleat but it was not going to happen.

Unfortunately his ride was back to the car where later he told me all he did was put the shoe back on and he clipped out, what the ???.

Onto the B's we went.

Ahhh, the first B in all her glory and Tim - Grandpa- already on his way up as Zeke, Francisco and Jay get ready.

Willie show em how to do it!

Steven - who had never been over here before?-, Gabe and Dell getting ready, they crushed it!

A little regroup at the bottom of the 3rd

Up the 3rd we go!

Let the hucking begin!
Jay,Dell and Dave were flying and Tim dropped it for the first time!!

Gabe dropping on the 20lb KHS hardtail!?!

I call this one, "Flight of the Gilmartin"!

Nice pics!
For what it's worth, a water bottle cage screw will work in place of a cleat screw in a pinch.

Cont'd....

Thought I would go a little ways down Zips and grab some pix as everyone rolled through a little rock section.

Steven mobbing on the 29er

Dave came through so fast I only caught his landing from clearing the rock section, check out the compression on his Nomad!

Onto Chutes!

Thanks for the RR Clyde. I like this pic of me.

I thought the drop felt a bit rougher than normal, then after the 5th time or so I realized I still had the front fork locked out. Good times nonetheless. Oh, and it's Dan, not Dave. But that's still cool; look forward to riding with you again!!!

Nice RR Neil. HopeFULLY, we can ride again soon. There was several rides Sat. Gregg(OMR) was at SART, Dean and crew at LCWP, your ride at Oaks, newbie ride at Peters, I was with a docent led ride at Bommer Canyon. Man I wish there was 3 or 4 of me so I can do em all!

Nice RR, and props to the photog for taking the time to shoot so many of the crew.

As dry as all of SoCal is, poor Oaks really looks like it needs a little rain.

Thumbs up

Neil,

Awesome shots of the riders and the conditions of the park. As Gene said, too bad there were so many ride choices this weekend as I would have loved to dragged these old bones on your ride as well.

Again, nice job...
