Default RR: LCWP -> Moro -> LCWP :: July 7th, 2007

Nice warm ride to start off the weekend . Most of us met at the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park parking lot. Luckily it wasn't blazin while climbing willow. At the top we met up with Dean and Cathy.

(note: click on pics for full versions)

The group:

from left to right: bret/guero, cathy/CC, Ann/SlowSpokes, Matt/von-diggity, Matt/Von-Skipp, Rob/TurnerRob, Craig/CalEpic, Andy/Sprokethead, Dean/dstepper, Justin/Mechman, allison & justin's two friends, Allison/Allison

Dean:

Cathy:

Allison:

From there we headed over to Rattlesnake via fenceline & missing link. Before Rattlesnake we hung out for a bit.

Rattlesnake was fun as always. At the bottom of Rattlesnake we observed proper trail etiquette and yielded to some hikers.

Four of us decided to hike back up Rattlesnake and meet up the rest of the crew at the gate before bommer/lcwp. The rest continued on down and then up I think I can.

After waiting maybe twenty minutes at the gate, the rest of the crew arrived and we trekked on over to T&A where Craig and Andy hit the top huck. That landing is getting pretty chewed up and dry.

Mattrick/vondur/von-diggity/diggs flatted halfway down T&A. Other than that it was good times as always. Few people hit the bottom huck and the roll.

Thanks everyone who showed up. T'was hot but fun. Thanks Andy for the Dos Equis afterwards. Stay thirsty, my friend

nice RR gouge. toasty times during the ride and tasty times after the ride at wahoos. was nice to meet allison, justin, jason and shealin (sp?). next time i should apply sunscreen, especially when wearing a tank top jersey. i was glad to climb willow early and in the cover of the marine layer, and was also glad to hike back up rattlesnake instead of lugging the coiler up I Think I Can. Demonstrating proper trail ettiquette was nice, it is always refreshing to yield to hikers. and special thanks to andy and ann for the post ride dos equis.

Sorry I missed this. I was with another group that came up Bommer Canyon(docent led) and we ran into Dean. He said he was with you(Brett) and Gouge. We ended up doing Fenceline/Missing Link as well. You're right, as soon as the clouds burned off, it got toasty!

You guys missed the best part of the day, Justin's BBQ on the beach and 72 degree water. Brent, the waves were pumping, three good waves wait 5 minutes then another goood set, solid 4-5 footers. No big barrells but some quick clean fun. We stayed on the beach a good 4-5 hours.

I thought the ride was more uncomfortable at 8 am than later when we we rode back out at noon. In the AM it was humid and sticky, later in the day the ridge lines had a nice cool breeze.

It has been way too long since I have done that ride. Last time I was there there we did a road return back from the bottom of T&A. There was however a heavily overgrown trail right at the bottom of T&A that supposely would prevent you from having to get on the road. Has that trail ever been cleared?

Talking Lcwp....

Dean and I met up at Ridgeline due to some miscommunication, then rode over to Bommer and Willow where everyone gathered.

Thanks everyone is was a fun day of riding. Even after I went down at Rattlesnake. Leg's a little bruised and I broke a shifter on the bike ...dang it, but luckily nothing serious.

It was nice meeting Challon and Jason, hope to see you guys again. Also good to ride with Alison, Justin, Rob and Matt again. Can't wait to see everyone else on Thursday.... (Ann great job playin sweep )

PS: I need a Phat tire (right guerO)
PSS: It looks like I missed out on a good time at the BBQ. I was ready to jump in the ocean and chill for awhile after the ride. Unfortunately I had other obilgations, but thanks for the invite...next time for sure.

Didn't ride it this last time but maybe a couple months ago (can't remember exactly) Jose and I did. The first part was somewhat overgrown and had one or two short hike a bike sections. After that it's mostly fireroad back to the cars. A great majority of it is rideable though.

Bummer... had no clue there was going to be a big group ride. Saw Ann and Andy in the beginning but had to bail quickly since friends were already waiting for me. I was meeting up with few of my other riding kids, most with more screws loose than me, and we took some um well trails yea. 1st time I have been there and that place was way too fun...

Gone ridin'

Default Operation Beat-the-heat: Success!

Due to my cold, and Ann not feeling well we decided to do a shorter ride near the coast to escape some of the simmering heat inland. It was successful. Low 70s when Justin and I arrived at LCWP. It was our first ride out there. We were surprised to see so many riders we knew! It was fun getting to hook up with a few other groups and ride, though.

I hadn't ridden my Dos in awhile, and it felt completely foreign to me after having ridden FS bikes, and DH bikes in general for the entire week before. I felt like I couldn't descend at all. It was definitely an eye-opener. Things that I would've hit without a second thought in Whistler I didn't even consider looking at yesterday.

On to the photos

The other side

Joining the group and sharing some laughs

Climbing up one of the early fire roads...CC is always smiling!

Ann and Shalyn close behind

Andy huffing it at the top of a singletrack

Craig entering T&A

Droppin in right above 133

Rollin in

Look, the other guys that we didn't invite are riding out there in the heat (just kidding all, no one was purposely left out)

"Think I should bring the Socom next time?"

Our little grotto at the beach (er, trying to stay away from the high tide)

I have a few other photos as well.
