Default RR: Kernville

It's a week late, but I figured you guys were sick of reading about Whistler. At least Kernville is attainable, eh?

Justin and I headed up the 215 Friday afternoon with Super T from SD. We had plans to meet up with Mark, Denny, and the pregnant Julee Friday night once they got into town. Bret and Jen were also on their way, but a little further behind.

After checking into our "river view" room (which did not have a river view, it was river facing, but the river was about a 1/4mi hike through dried up stream beds) we head down to the river to check it out.

Then, naturally, headed back into town for some grub and beers at the Kernville Brewery

If IPA is your thing, you'd dig the IPA and the Blond. Justin and I really liked the Red and the Stout.

Sunset from the local market

Saturday we woke up to the not so fun prospect of self-shuttling up to Sherman Pass. It may not have been bad, except for the 10 mile out and back detour on the wrong road It was gorgeous up top, though, and perfect temps.

And down we headed!

Denny playing on a log

Justin dropping off

One of the MANY gorgeous meadows

Token handlebar shot

Super T climbing up

Yep...some of us chose to walk

Still climbing

Woohoo! Descent!

When you're up at the higher elevation, anything that leads down is always nice

More treacherous downhill

Thumbs up Again... Nicccceeeee!

Absolutely love that trail and JO.... How would you have loved to come down certain sections on those DH bikes from Whistler? Be interesting to go ride there right after going up to Canada... I'm sure you'd ride it differently.... the downhill sections that is!

The first flat

And a good place to stop and grab something to eat

Blazing through another meadow

Or, enjoying the flowers...

Loading up on nice cold water

More climbing

Some more fast descents

Catching some air

What? You mean there are MORE nice meadows??

Playing on the rocks

Jen checking it out

And going for it

Me, on a *less* steep section

Continuing through the meadows... before the big PLUNGE

The wonderous, and infamous, Plunge view

I crashed a few times, and since we were all quite warm and running low on water, we kinda hauled down the hill. No photos from here until the gate to the final descent

Nothing better than your bike and a dirty beer after a ride, eh?

REFRESHING!

We were all quite impressed to have had four men AND four women riding on Saturday. Unusual to have equal amounts!

The fire road past the ski station

Descending through the manzanita tunnel

Huffing it through a slight uphill meadow

Our fearless leader!

It does say "Photo Point"

Nice cloud photo

Topping out... for this leg at least

Going down

The view of Lake Isabella from the other side

More rock playgrounds

The bike hand-off!

The three amigas

Ready for her close-up

Ahhh... it doesn't get any better than this, right? Oh wait, I'm going to Whistler tomorrow!

Awesome, thanks for taking the time to take all the shots Allison. Had a great time and it looks like you had a killer time in Whistler too. Way to go and step it up on that Demo.

What a fantastic time! I thought it was a killer trip for just the weekend. Next time I'd leave much sooner on a Friday, cuz the traffic getting there almost finished me. Thanks for keeping your camera out and getting some good pictures. I'd like to contribute, but Denny and I forgot the camera. It was great to finally meet you and share one of our passions together. Hopefully we can do it again, before or even after the the baby. Looks like you upped your game in Whistler. That's what I love to see! Thanks again for the great write-up of Kernville and your trip to Canada.

Proof again, no one is ever disappointed in the Plunge!

Glad you all had a good time and that trail boss knows his stuff.
