Default Northstar

Northstar at Tahoe is looking pretty good for this year. I may have to make a trip up there this summer.

COMING SOON
  • LiveWire, Northstar Resort’s first signature trail is scheduled to open mid-summer, permits pending, and will feature table tops and large berms throughout course of the run. This mountain bike trail will offer riders a “tacky” trail for superior traction and a smoother ride.
  • A new jump park located at mid-mountain between the bases of the Vista Express and Tahoe Zephyr Express chairlifts will also provide riders with an opportunity to practice their latest tricks

I actually do a ton of work with these folks in during the winter season. They are VERY excited about his MTB project and are looking to expand their trail network beyond their current property. Possibly linking 3-4 resorts together.

Check with Dean, he may still have some room left. He's rented a cabin in August. I'll be going, but looks like I'll be camping in the backyard.

I don't know if you're just kidding but they actually have some excellent XC trails also. I rode there for several days a couple of years ago and I am total XC. I even rode up the mountain instead of taking the lift and it wasn't that tough. I seem to recall a trail on the back side called (I think) Tahoe Rim, or something like that, with miles and miles of wooded single track.

I'll be there opening weekend, in fact. The last weekend in June I am going to see my family in Sacramento. So I am making a looooong weekend out of it and going to Northstar! I rode there a few times two summers ago. The place is a freakin' blast!

I just talked with the folks at Northstar. Here is the trail map for the property. According to them, there are tons of different options for trails - everything from downhill to XC to free ride. Their intention is go after the Whistler crowds.....

If I can do it....it can't be that hard! I was just trying to earn my beer .

Speaking of that, they have a great pool there with bar and food service. Great place to hang out after a day of dusty trails.
