Default RR: RR: Yeah my first one !

WARNING - THIS IS A NON-HUCK, NON-EPIC; NON-CARNAGE RR.............

.........however, if you want to take a newbie on a ride that's easier than the Fully Loop but more challenging than the Peter's Canyon Lake trail, this could be the perfect ride. The trail has a little gravel, a little sand, a little climbing and LOTS of scenery!

We saw hawks, turkey vultures, two deer, one dead deer, a really cool trap-door spider, sand wasps, a grainery for woodpeckers etc.......

Here's the easy to find start

A few photos of the well shaded ride

Finally made it to the destination - The Sinks

The docents were cool and offered to let us take a little extra credit. We took a small hill up to an old indian milling stone

Next, we road up to Bommer Spring (?)

Hard to believe, but if you walked just 50 yards from the shade it felt like a desert

It sure didn't seem like we were climbing on the way in, but on the way out it was REAL easy to hit 25mph without pushing it. It was BY FAR the most relaxing ride back I've ever had - OK, I've never riden SART.

The only drawback is that the ride is semi-private. The ride is done through a sign-up process only and you need to plan ahead. Here's the link to the future rides - we took the Family Limestone Canyon Ride to the Sinks.

Actually, Limestone is a great SS place. There are several steep climbs from the valley up to the top of the west ridge... then down some fun single track to valley, back up to east ridge (which parallels Santiago Canyon road)...onto some great single track that goes on for miles back to car. Must have a Docent to ride there. Ride time: approx 2 hrs. Will let you know next time we do this if you are interested.

Gregg, I'm definitely in for the next one. Reed was telling me about it. Sounds way cool and too close to home not to have ever ridden it. Just didn't know how to go about it being a "Closed Area" and all.

Great pics. Looks like it would be a VERY fun ride. Any streams? Crossings? Just wondering.

I say Junior has earned the right---- time to add another Santa Cruz to the current stable. If you really love your Son--- Iron Horse Baby!!!

Interesting Observation---- In BOTH pictures in which "The Young Punk" and yourself have appeared on STR, HE appears happy and full of energy. Daddy??? It looks like you are a bit winded! Hahaha!

Anyway, thanks for the ride report and pics. You think HE is ready for Carbon Canyon yet? My bad- you think YOUR lungs are ready? Haha. We'll talk...
