Default RR: RR: Neil & Nam's Hella D-Ville Adventure - The Second Cut

saturday rolled in and with a full nights rest, the Socal crew was ready for action. The sun warmed the campgrounds and everyone was awoken by either the raven lurking up in the trees or by the noxious flatulence that shot out from Neil's Fartmaster 40. I was soon scrambling for the zipper door of the tent to get the F out of it and to breath in some fart free norcal hella clean air. Dan was soon up and brewing some cowboy coffee that scared away a bunch of spoiled city slickers that are used to $5 a cup starbucks coffee. After a cup of coffee, he was already in singing mode and i'm sure he woke everyone up with his showtunes.
justin, allison, neil, dan and i then ventured over to the diner to have a well deserved breakfast and then went back to the camp ground to prepare for the shuttle...

After dropping off some cars in town, a group of about 20 of us finally got up to the saddle and the girls went down the XC trail and the rest of us went down Sunshine trail and butcher. I don't remember exactly which trail this was, but there was a sweet fireroad downhill in which 4-5 of us were racing down elbow to elbow that was a freakin blast. After Butcher, we headed on over to 2nd divide... this was a lot more flowy than 3rd divide and didn't have as much climbing. This is also where OMD got his first flat of the day. We decided to finish out the trail and meet the ladies over by the bridge for a much needed R&R along the river. After about 30 minutes, Robo comes down singing and smiling.. We then headed out to the main fireroad and proceeded to hit up 1st divide which is a nice flowy trail that rides all along the river. The usual exposure laden singletrack and really cool views made for a great end to a truly fun ride. Having to not have to climb nearly 5k ft. made the day a ton of fun for me

after reaching the campground, we got cleaned up, ate dinner and started the drinking festivities... Since Tuna wasn't back from the A ride yet, OMD and myself decided we were going to mess with him and we took his tent and pitched it over on a huge rock... The look on his face when he realized his tent was gone was freakin classic... no one in our site could keep a straight face and we were all on the verge of tears from the laughter. He rolls in half naked on his bike and is telling us about his double shuttle day, when he walks toward his tent and is like....

"where the heck did my tent go?"

he thought someone stole the tent at first and how he pitched his tent right at that spot... Justin was very quick to comment that he didn't want to know where Tuna was pitchin a tent at... this just opened it up and everyone was dying at this point... Since his tent was green and behind a tree, yet still in sight it was well camoflauged. Only when he got to his car and looked over did he see where his tent was...

After the hijinx, neil, dan, andy and myself all headed over to the keg corral for some brews. Like a herd of cattle, there was burping and farting for all to go around... i think neil might have even taken a shat there as well

before the sun went down, we brought out lawn chairs over to get a close spot to the fire and ring in the night with some beers. The raffle started up a little later and there were stickers to be won! There were a few good drink offs and one lucky mofo, tuna's friend won a niner frame he wasn't even a MTBR member either... freakin guy...

anyhow, i was already loaded and we kept passing around justin's flask of patron... that along with the mothership and ipa i was drinking made for quite the interesting night... i stumbled back to our camp site and hung out with everyone for a bit more as we all rehydrated ourselves with water.

As soon as things start to get quiet, dan's tent is flapping around in the air and out of the woods comes justin with a sh*t eating grin on his face.... He was way drunk an hour earlier and it clearly has not worn off... he starts talkin smack to dan and doesn't see the rock he is about to huck.. he lands face first into the dirt, his hand prints could still be made out the next day

the night ended soon after that... we dusted 2 kegs that night

Neil on his new DH rig rippin up Sunshine

dan checking his cell phone reception

striking a pose

we had quite the variety of riders with us

in case anyone was wondering, we made sure to let all the Norcal and Oregonians know that you don't mess with the socal peeps... we'll cut you

I went into Tustin Brewery today for lunch and thanked the owner for the wonderful donation. He was shocked we didn't take two of his kegs with us! Oh! My bad!!! Next time I'll know!

Thanks for the great time everyone. I hope to put it on again next year. Time will tell!

Until then.....
