Default RR: RR: Chesebro Canyon slacker ride

when everyone else was out having fun riding SART, i was heading out to LA to visit my family. Before the afternoon buffet session at home i was able to sneak a ride in over at Chesebro in Agoura Hills. Since i'm not that familliar with the trail i did an easy out and back. I started at the main trail head and went a little past sheepard flats to the left. Nursing a cold and riding the SS, i had no intention on doing some of those steep climbs out there and the other two guys i ended up hooking up with felt the same. We headed back and halfway back to the parking lot i ran into Ezra from the GearNoise podcast fame. Nice guy, that has a bunch of stories to tell. He also holds free skills classes on the first saturday of every month at Malibu State Park ( CORBA: The Concerned Off Road Bicyclists Association - Preserving and Increasing Mountain Bike Access to the Trails of Los Angeles and Surrounding Areas in Southern California, through Education, Information and Conservation. )

on the way we we saw this cool looking horse, which supposedly is super rare and its horse juice is supposedly worth 50k+ a squirt at least thats what the ranger (a nice little old lady) said .. the other ranger, a nice older gentleman was rangling a rattle snake back into the woods and away from the bathrooms. i tried snapping a pic, but the camo on the snake is just tooooo good.

into the woods and under the canopy

an interesting change of pace

a STIL section that i had problems with climbing since it was so loose

rider descending the same section taking the easy line ( i took the rocky, stepped line in the middle on the ss (there was girls standing there watching so i had to look cool

fork in the road

which way to go? right?

or left

we went left

the climb up to the peak that takes you to the other side

the horse named Professor

back at my dad's, played some ball with my niece angelique

now i'm hangin out with Harley

That's Cheseboro btw... Good that you got out to that oak area, I've used that place for easy "get back in shape rides" instead of popping the Brown Mtn./El Prieto loop. And for also taking newbies out, I take the route up the road and then down the singly track...

Just one rattler? I usually see 2 or 3 at a time, everyone becareful out there!!

i think this is the first time this year dood.... unless there is some sort of vitamin to prevent injuries....i crashed and landed on some rocks yesterday that hurt... of course it happened when i was trying to clean this short steep climb and i couldn't make it and fell over

Yeah, Cheseboro is a lotta fun. I know that spot with the loose rocks--still remember being a little freaked out coming down back when I tried it. I only rode there once, with PMBC. It started pouring rain in the middle and we had to walk back through all that claylike mud. The mud got in everyone's chainstays, preventing the wheels from rolling. Still fun though!

Start Left, then go right, at least that's how I did it.

Oh, and it's steeper than it looks.

I've only been there a few times, but it seems you can ride the same trail every day and not get bored.
