Thanks to Rocky Mountain and Chumba for the Demo Bikes…very nice…and a big thanks to Neil for the work putting this together. Congratulations to Dave for the new Chumba, very nice bike, the picture does not do the green color justice. Sorry for jumping on it and riding it before you got your first ride…nice ride!
I don’t know how you can beat a no pedal ride to the top of the mountain and when you get there they are selling big bottles of Fat Tire Beer…nice touch to make for a great slacker ride. The newbees should have come with us because what we rode today falls within a beginners ride. I did a couple runs down Fall Line and Fern Trail and although they are loose in spots very ridable for someone new if they go slow. Also rode Skyline Fireroad across the top to Pineknot Trail. Almost all down hill with a few small hills then a very nice, not to steep, single track trail down the mountain and back the to pavement. Dean

Great pics! Looks like it was gorgeous out there. Maybe we should've joined in on that
We did a 50mi road ride instead. Though I did get to sleep in. Thanks for the shots, though. Haven't seen much of the trails up there. I think I see a ride being planned for some time in July up there ![]() |

Thank you to everyone who made it out today and a big thank you to Neil for putting on and organizing this event. Willie and I had a great time meeting some new people and riding--great riding, great people. Oh yeah, and thank you to Gabe for taking us on “ladder drops.” Where were the ladder drops anyway? And props to the guy to did the teeter-totter for the first time—you’ll nail it next time!

The flat tires must be from all the hard core down hill racing.

![]() I was having a blast all day...til the last run ![]() I tried out a RM Slayer but I think the back shock had too much air in it. Anyways I launched off that first jump on the fun singletrack and it kicked the back end up. I landed so hard on the front wheel I completely exploded the rim. I broke like 12 spokes and taco'd the rim in half and of course banged myself up a little in the process. Thanks to Neil and Tracy, Jason at Chumba, Willy, Jonathan at Chumba, Gabe for showing me the cool stuff I can't do yet, the guys at Rocky(sorry for breaking the bike ) Steve(ch4os) for the brewskies, Dave for the shades, and everyone else there. ![]() |
