Thumbs up A GREAT Whiting Loop!!

Well, I got my son Jake over to Whiting Ranch this morning, for what turned out to be his best ride yet!

That's how HE put it! He really enjoyed it.

We parked at the shopping center, and rode up the center to Mustard Rd.

He only stopped 3 times going up Mustard, and didn't walk it at all! We stopped just before the final pitch at the top.

We watched a couple of riders lean forward and pedal up, and then Jake took his turn. With lot's of encouragement from the guy's up top, and me yelling to "keep going, you're almost there!", he made it.

After making it he said that he felt really good, that he didn't know he could make it up something like that!
I told him that, that's what get's you hooked. That feeling of doing what you thought you couldn't do!

We headed down Cactus, which he really enjoyed. We didn't break any speed records, but nobody crashed, and we both came out needle free!

After getting up the steep climb, he saw there was one more climb before the long downhill started.

He attacked that thing, and made it look easy!

Oh, sorry Jake, one more climb....

then the downhill through the trees.

All in all, it was a GREAT ride!!

He say's he's really looking forward to riding more!

Default Nice Job Jake!

Way to go Jake!
Now you can try climbing Whiting to Santiago Trail to Joplin.
Hey, is that a Kona frame?
My first bike in the 90s was a Kona steel frame.
It was a good strong frame. However, my all time favorite frame is a Turner 5 Spot and soon it will be a Chumba XCL or EVO. Happy biking!
