Default King Fred among Freds

I went riding on Sunday with a friend who rides infrequently on a pretty old bike - rocking 60mm of Manitou travel up front! I decided to take him to Whiting and climb up Serrano and then come down Cow trail and Live Oak.
Both of us had been heckling each other during the climb, so I started calling him Fred and pointing out signs of his Fredness. All good fun.
We decided to climb Concourse FR and had stopped about halfway up when we hear bikes coming. We look up to see a 9 year old charging down the road at a fairly good clip. A second later we see his Dad on a tricked out Motiv coming down at the same speed.
As it registered in my brain, my jaw began to drop.
King Froderick!
The guy had a two year-old strapped to his back in a baby backpack and neither of them were wearing helmets as they wiz by at high speed.
The kid had a look of terror on his face as he held on tightly, riding down with his belly bouncing off of Dad’s back.
One OTB would have put them in a world of hurt.
Stood there in complete wonder that someone would be so careless. I was so blown away that I was ready to give chase and bark at him.
I planned to at least ask them about getting helmets, but we didn’t see them again. The message probably wouldn’t have been heard anyway.

Too bad the kid has to suffer for the sins of the father; but, this is Mother Nature's way of cleaning out the gene pool...

I have seen that guy at Whiting before with his kid on his back. I thought to myself on slip up and that poor kidd could really be in a world of hurt.

I don't care about the Dad so much, but the baby has no say in the matter. I would/will take off after the dingbat and tell him to walk the bike out or else. And I do mean "or else". This is just freekin wrong and really gets my blood boiling.

He'd do it too. Have you seen that moustache, and those tattoos, the man doesn't care. He'd "or else" the guy until the cows came home.

No reason to bring Steve into this now.
