Hey guys. Yeah, I finished. In the next couple days I'll be writing up a ride report - I hope to give everybody a glimpse of hell. Make ya feel it even. Wow, I need to work on my pitch.

The bare facts:

It took about 12.5 hours - including lunch, photos and "navigational" stops. I made it back before dark, which I was super excited about, as I didn't want to take any fire-road short-cut back down the mountain.

Mark Weir finished in about 8.5 hours I believe. Rich finished in 10.5, but that included major detours and extra miles. Rich did a fricking amazing, fast job of it ... especially since he was all alone out there for most of the time. My guide, Rachelle, finished in 12 hours, but she was stopping for me during the first third of the ride. I had hoped to follow her downhill lines, as she’s an amazing downhiller, but it was too hard to hang! She would just rocket down huge sections of rock like they were hard-packed dirt!

As for the torture of it ... the major problem was the mental fatigue I started to feel, which lead to a couple bad crashes. So I'm a bit bashed up - face and lycra included. But believe it or not, I enjoyed a lot of the ride. There were a couple of tears, and at least one moment wherein I wanted to quit ... but I was feeling really positive on the whole.

The bike is great - all the best parts. I think the retail value is 5,200 bucks! I can't wait to race Southridge on it this winter, but I am kinda bummed about putting all the gears back on! I really liked riding the Hellride on it as a 1X9 (34 ring). The bike felt light and powerful on the climbs. I hope to show it off at some rides soon!

Thanks for all your support! You guys gave me so much encouragement, and that definitely helped me keep going for sure!!

Keith will probably post some words and photos soon … and then my official ride report will probably be on the Santa Cruz website.
