Default What's that green stuff sprayed around El Moro?

Tuesday I saw guys in white space suits spraying stuff on El Moro Ridge, by Missing Link. Last evening I saw a bunch of green stuff sprayed along Bommer Ridge between El Morro and Emerald Canyon. What is that stuff?

i think its used to help prevent erosion... i've seen people spray it around the outskirts of aliso woods, usually on the steep slopes by homes

I'm really not in a position to comment on that. Check with Chris V.

That's different green stuff. That's hydro turf and they use it to create a fuel modification zone for fire prevention. It's basically liquid grass seed.

yea I seen it as well. I also noticed some very small burnt sections on some of the trails in El Morro. Very small like someone wanted to make a small campfire.

Would you please tell me where these burnt spots were. I would like to go take a look at them.

Default small burnt areas

OK this is properly my 5th time riding El Morro so be patient with me because I may not know all the proper names of the trails and I kind of forgot the exact location. On my last ride last Tuesday night went on a trail that well may not be "legal" registered trail so bare with me. I do believe I saw the burnt marks either on the fenceline trail single track that I took up to the surveyor post right before Moro Ridge road. If it was not their then I know for sure it was on here where I saw it. If you go down Moro Ridge road to area of the road where it gets kind of rutty their is a little single track DH entrance from the road. This single track trail will take you out to a grassy pasture section of the trail. I hope this helps I will be going out to El Morro again on Friday night and I will be able to give you a exact location.

What's with all the blazes [as of Tues] all over LCWP/EM?
Bright orange ribbon, usually in pairs on each side of fire roads (From the willow entrance)? Was this left over from an event/ride and weren't taken down or is it something official?

My interpretation of blazes is of hunters going off trail, and leaving their mark so as not to get lost. AFAIK, there was no game trails or singletracks at these blazes. There were a ton of quail that night.

Default O rly..

I was there on Tuesday around 6PM. I rode down Bommer and I didn't notice any green spray on the trail. Weird.

hydroseeding:

the green stuff is a combo of native plant seeds, fetilizer, and water retention goo (for lack of a better word) that helps get growth going and as a erosion preventer.

it maybe the right type of plants to use, but most biologists (of the tree hugging variety) would suggest that it doesnt get the correct dispersion of plants.
