Big thanks to sauce and allison for putting this thing on, I had a great time. As El B mentioned, it's quite humbling watching all those ss'ers do their thing so well, but it's also inspiring. One of these days...

Hope all the scrapeage heals soon, and bikes are not too much worse for the wear. Maybe Aqua's new shades will take some of his sting out--if he wears 'em or not.

Thanks for having us gearies along, and for keeping the shite talking to a minimum...at least when we were around.

Another big thanks to Sara and Allison. Allison, nice riding with you

I was bummed that we had to leave early, but had a great time up there. I even passed Keith TWICE!!! Just ask him, he has the pics to prove it (as he was stopped taking them )

I escaped my nemesis trail with a scratch that is not even worth mentioning. On the way down, I caught myself thinking "I made it", as I didn't want to do the inevitable jinx

When I hit the parking lot, I found that John (who doesn't believe in jinxes) had thought the same thing, just before cleaning out the rut full of branches with the top end of his bike, while he continued riding it (upside down--rubber side up)

Quick healing to all and to all a good night

My notes about the ride to muse over whilst I sort out all the pics out.........

After piecing together my SS at the last minute I didn’t had chance to test it but hey it looked pretty good and seemed pretty light so I was sure it was going to ride well. 32:20 ratio, Reba Fork and some beefy rubber were my SS weapons of choice for this ride.

Being photographer of the day meant that I had pretty much clear trails all day: Going ahead of everyone to get the shots then riding from the back to catch up the group. Not often you get clear trails on a 20+ group ride thats 100% singetrack

Climbing up to Cocktail was pretty incident free - saw a few friends from Geoladders coming down, a few of the steep switchbacks werent possbile with SS but they made for good spots to allow my pulse to drop from the rev limiter for a few seconds.

Up at Cocktail I was disappointed to see El Borrachiao do the jump without a cigarette hanging from his mouth - or as we'd say in England (Or at Justins house) 'without a fag hanging out of his mouth'
Steve bravely did the same jump after already being banged up, having only a rear brake and riding a very expensive fully rigid bike – it didn’t land so well but thankfully we got some kick ass pictures of the event – thanks Steve!

Jose did his best impression of Jesus feeding the 5,000 and somehow made a few bottles of IPA go round the full STR group ride - no pizza though?!(Apologies to any devout Christians who are offended by Jose's likeness to the walking on water person) Anyone who can 'pitch a tent' whilst staring a woman covered in mud and blood msut be divine surely?!

Plenty of pinch flats on the way down, Jose got to use his CO2 system for the 1st time only to find that his first cartridge was a dud and the second was sufficient to inflate a 29er to about 4.8psi - oh yeah baby break out the good old pump.

The SS had been awesome heading uphill but the skittish back end was a re-learning experience for me in a big way - couple that with being tired and I was just up for a slow roll back down to check out the view. Half way down I was getting back into the swing of the hardtail and upped the pace a bit.

By the end of the ride it transpired that Allison had taken not one but three for the team - way to go girl! Not to be outdone by Aliison surfing the trail with her cheek Sarah had got both knees bloody and somehow managed to hit her chin on the floor (You jsut know Jose was turned on by this.......Perhaps he's more like Lucifer than Jesus?!)

Thanks to Justin and CJ for the Guiness at the end of the ride - that hit the spot! (No idea why I kept calling Justin 'Jason' all day )

Good to meet Ian (Didnt mention it but my ancestory is also Welsh)

It wasnt quite the sufferfest I was expecting but the long day and lack of food certainly tired me out. But hey at least I was only goign to ride the SS up Maple Springs to Santiago Peak the next day

Pics on the way - there's alot

Finally here are the Photos............

John takes point on the Switchbacks

CJ following close behind

Allison gets jealous of Justin and shows us what she's got - Bianchi boy crashed after staring too long

Del and posse

Ian laughs like a maniac as he recalls sheep farming back in Wales. Good job those velcro gloves come in handy for biking

Chelle passes me for the 1st time

Dude, Pirates of the Carribean opens next week!

Marlboro boy goes Euro and dtiches the helmet - I dont fear the reaper either man!

Adam gets the best of both worlds with his Kona SS full Sus

!st break of the day at the top of the switchbacks

Jesus makes the special sign to call for his levitation powers to kick in after he realises that Holy Water and bread dont have enough calories to get him up San Juan

By moving the wrong finger Jesus calls in a thunderstorm...a small one

Gene Simmonds daughter hits the trail

Steep bit

Extreme CJ close up

He may be able to walk on water but he's screwed on sand. These sandles just have no grip.

John almost breaks into a sweat after 40minutes of riding

Allison wanted suffering and she got her wish. Twisted, jsut twisted.

Jesus laughs hysterically as he gives Del a flat jsut so he can pass by. Peace be with you my brother....*cough* loser!

Adam also gives poor Del the finger

Now thats the kind of machinery I'm talking about

A small rain storm appears over a childs birthday party in Coto. Sorry my child, slight fook up wid ma hand signal yo.

Brother CJ attempts to copy Jesus and simultaneously Allison falls off her bike. Coincidence?? I think not!

Oh God they're all at it

Benny boy suffers like a good un

Allison arrives under some kind of voodoo hex

Result of CJ's dabbling in the dark powers

.....Ian had inadvertently summoned a demon to rip out Steve's brake lines. Jesus rode on laughing.

Ian runs out of water and attempts to fill the Camelbak with the only fluid he has available

Justin wore lycra for a reason and revels in the popularity of his ass

I'll take the lense first then the rest - be gentle

Ben: Man that was a tough climb
Justin: Oh yeah, I jsut took a 35mm Nikon up the ass

Nice bikes

Jesus attempts redemption and feeds the 24 with 3 bottles of IPA

After the horror of the Nikon incident the other Justin isnt tempted for a second

The bottomless IPA gets around. Damn must have been chilly up there!

Where is it all coming from?! Magic. Didnt fill my Camelbak with Sierra though did ya eh?!

Melon time for Chelle, with the way John's looking at Chelles head it could be Melon time for John too, although I doubt he's a cannibal.

Steve about to go down. If only Jesus could save him from a ripped Oakley jersey - but then the Lord does move in mysterious ways. Maybe there's a sale on at Jenson right now?

Marlboro boy shows he has no fear of death

Justin weeps like a little girl after the indignity of crashing then having to push his bike.

But its all smiles again when he finds where the lense cap got to

Hey they're my pictures so here's my bike again

I'm telling you I jsut saw him turn Steve into a guinea pig

Justin moons my bike in a fit of child like rage

Oh God can't you jsut get the lense cap out yourself man !!!!

The worst is still to come...

More carnage

Me testing out the Ti dream machine.

Its jsut not the same without a big tear in the back. Justin laughs it up and asks if I want to borrow his Canon SD800

Great views

Jesus is forced to harness the pooooower of the wind after getting a duff CO2 cartridge. Somewhere there is a hurricane ripping down houses and sucking up small animals. 'Whatever man, my tyre is flat.'

OK everyone wait 5minutes so we can get some shots of everyone riding down.....you are all listening right??

Bleeding from both knees and covered in dirt. She scrubs up pretty good though

3 way Carnage!

Sarah rubs her self down with ice cubes *croak*

The End. Apologies to anyone who think Jesus (The real one!) doesnt have a sense of humour! Lighten up or get struck down by a bolt of lightning!
