Justin got the SS's mostly put all back together (still need to have brakes bled) this week for our San Juan sufferfest that's taking place tomorrow.
We wanted to go do a shakedown ride to make sure that tires were good, the SS's worked, brakes worked, and setups were all good. Especially on my 1x1 because he put on a different crankset, wheelset, bars, stem, brakes... He flipped a coin for me on Wednesday night to determine which rear tire to run. It came up Nevegal. I got all my pink parts put on it, so was stoked. I think it looked really good as a white/black/silver set up, but I gotta put the pink bling somewhere!! The bike worked pretty well. We both had WAY too easy gearing for the area we were riding, but it should be good for San Juan. I'm having brake issues (specifically that my front brake caliper doesn't like it's new location so it's making quite a bit of noise, and also that my right brake lever is pulling back all the way to the bar), but that's supposed to be fixed tonight. On to the photos - Nice pink bling! ![]() ![]() ![]() Token handlebar shot ![]() ![]() This little guy was just chilling on the trail. Not sure if someone had run over him or not. His head was moving around, but he wasn't going anywhere ![]() ![]() This looked a lot easier from the run-in. When I went over I had NO idea there was a huge gap! ![]() JUMP JUMP! ![]() ![]() ![]() That's all folks. |

I've had it for almost a year and a half. For a cheap no hassle, no frills SS I have no complaints! I got one of the 05's in early 06 because I wanted a white one (instead of black, and I think it was green?). The paint has scratched/chipped pretty easily, but I haven't exactly taken it easy on that bike. I prefer it rigid (at least on some of the easier trails we ride), but have it as a HT right now for San Juan.
I've also got the singulator and the Fibonachi (sp?) spacer set. Surly cogs are all I've ever used on it. It's not super light-weight, but it works! |

actually it isn't a singulator, it is the surly tensioner for horizontal drops (just a screw and a piece to hold the skewer so that chain tension doesn't pull the skewer forward).
the surly isn't a bad frame. it is sort of heavy and if you are running hydros you need to modify the cable stops on the TT to hold a hydro line. there is extra stuff on there like the rim brake bosses and stuff that bugs me, but allison doesn't care. if she winds up riding more SS, i would probably spring for a better frame (scandium Niner or custom Ti) |

XTR baybee! BLING!
![]() Oh man! I probably would've taken one of those had they been available. RT on empty beer has one with a pink fork and it's pretty sweet. Last edited by allison : 05-11-2007 at 09:33 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Although nothing hooks up like those Nevs, do me a favor and put the Short Block 8 back on the back. In addition to rolling much better, I'm amazed at the grip these babies have... even on back country trails like Coldwater or Bell Ridge.
Sorry we won't be seeing you at the Toad.... OMR

That's what counts, and I'd be happy to trade ya: I talk tech OK, but can't ride or wrench for beans! Looks like a sweet bike - congrats! ![]()

Haha. I haven't reached that level of slacker yet. The only thing I kept out of all my R/C stuff was my receiver battery charger. I had that cheapo 959 peak jobbie that I bought from Ultimate. One of these days I'll buy a batt cell holder and use it to charge my camera batteries.
