Default Claremont Wilderness Park Closed.

Went to ride there after work today and saw that it was posted due to the fire danger being so high. So I went and rode over by Marshall canyon. However, I saw a few people off-loading their bikes and heading up to Colbalt and Burbank. Are these people in danger of having thier bikes taken away
or fined?
Are these signs just posted and have little meaning ?
Any way had a nice evevning ride today. It was warm and beautiful! and the Dodgers won to boot!

I would imagine that a ticket with a fine would be given if caught. With the fires we have had over the last few years, I understand the closure. Last year it was closed quite a bit.

I've never seen them enforce it, but for the sake of being on the good side of the city park rangers I'd stay out. We still have a few other places to ride. I was planning on riding Marshall today after work, and going thru CWP, but I'll skip that part.

Same sad story here; nightly ride ended up being done on the pavement instead of in the canyons. Claremont city website says the park will be closed until weather conditions change - could be awile.

I was up there between 4 and 5:30..I went to the west side and entered near the Fred Palmer horse Park. I only ran into one other rider. It was a nice but short ride. Saturday I ran into about 10 riders and rode with them for a bit. It is always a blast to ride up there in a group. Take care !

Is the area called Webb shut down too? I wanna go ride there this weekend. It's a loooooong drive to just turn around and go back home to Del Cerro... Can anyone let me know the status?

The only thing that's closed is the east entrance. That means cobal and burbank trails. If you hit Webb through burbank then you assed out but if you come in through the west side you should be fine.

What if I park by the church and just ride up to the jumps? Is that ok? I saw the signs at the top of the hill where we drop off to shuttle. They said something about fire training and it being closed for a few days. This was about two weeks ago. Those are the only two ways I know to ride Webb. Thanks for the help!

When I road it yesterday it was open but all the trails leading out from the "loop" (towards Webb, into Marshall, to Evey Cyn./Potato mnt.) had closed signs posted so technically only the loop was open. Wasn't stopping any of the hikers they still were being used. BTW spotted the guy walking his llama...very cool. Used to walk a pair but the second passed away .

i saw the llama yesterday too. it's not clear what's open and what's closed. there wasn't the usual weekend traffic though.

Yeah, I seen that Llama guy before too. Even saw him at Chino Hills once. Sorry to hear about the other one.

I was just cutting thru on the upper section and I've never seen so many people using the park. All but a couple of bikers and the rest were all on foot. My estimate was over 40. I asked if it was a group thing and some ladies told me no, as far as they knew it was just groups of different people.
