Coal/Gypsum/Green River area has a small fire burning right now.
I can see the smoke from work, but can't pinpoint the location. Kind of looks like the flat-ish area between Chino Hills and the FWY. Tanker plane is already at work. |

I'm close to it too. Looks to me like it's in the Weir area, just over the hill from the previous burn area. Seems like the wind is pushing it towards the already burned stuff, so hopefully it won't get far.

I drove by it east(515pm) first on the 91 then back west(630pm)....It is Featherly Regional Park(Gypsum Canyon)....there were 5 water dropping heli's and 2 planes working it...on my way east it was burning right up to the freeway..there is a TON of fuel to burn there is why they had soo many water droppers

My commute home was actually not too bad. When I got to Gypsum the police had La Palma closed but the bike trail was open soooo I used that.
Got to the bridge, a few firemen were standing around along with a handful of cyclists. I asked if it was safe to cross the bridge, one cyclist said he just came from the other side and the firemen had shuffled to the other side sooooo I went over the bridge towards the 91. here is where the ride got strange, smoke everywhere, trucks and cars under the bridge, firemen and control crews everywhere. I got to the other end and immediately sought out a police officer to see if I could get onto the trail. He pointed to the fire, which was about a 100 yards away, and said don't go near the fire soooo I went on the trail towards Green River. As I passed the now smoldering RV area I counted 5 fire trucks and crews everywhere in that RV area. Overhead 3 helicopters were circling, it was kind of crazy! Perhaps the weirdest of all was as I passed the last truck a bobcat came cruising out onto the trail, stopped, looked at me and ran back into the bushes! That was the biggest one I have seen so far so from there on I did some interval training to get the heck out of there! Made it home before dark smelling like campfire!
