RR: Toad Course- Lower Holy Jim to Trabuco Canyon Trail
While most were at the Poker Ride, my friend Rich and I decided it would be a great opportunity to climb Lower Holy Jim and basically get a good practice ride in before the Toad. We were right. We only had 2 riders coming down Lower Holy Jim and 5 others climbing. A few hikers as always and only 2 more riders on Main Divide, that's it. I guess everyone was at the Poker ride. It was a beautiful day to ride. The weather was perfect! The trails couldn't be in better shape. Lower Holy Jim has it's usual stream crossings(still plenty of water) and Trabuco Trail with it's "rocky" sections, but all is good. We started at the wash area at the end of Trabuco Creek Rd(VQ/CC Finish line) and ended there as well. Total distance: 27.7 miles(according to my computer), Elevation gain: 5000+. Ride time: about 4 1/2 hours, includes stops for photo ops and just to take in the sights(rest). Not a bad way to spend my Birthday!

Happy B Day Gene... sounded like you guys had a good ride. The weather was almost perfect... that day! Looks like it may be a wee bit hotter this coming Sat. That ride across to Trabuco can be a bake-o. Let's keep fingers crossed a cold front moves through the area!
I'll be working the Holy Jim Trail for the ride. Riding up mid pack and sweeping back down again... Seee you then...  OMR
