Took off from the house and headed up into the forest, South side of town. Windy in the low 50’s and mostly overcast. Within a couple miles of riding the pavement gave way to dirt, with some ATV trails paralleling the forest service roads. Route stays in the trees all most the entire ride and has views out of the forest. About 10 miles in I found an old Gold Mine that has been abandoned for many decades…and no I did not go inside the mine shaft…it was downright creepy.
Ran into an old-timer at the Goldmine that told me to never go near a Goldmine that is posted No Trespassing, apparently there are some crotchety old men out in the hills that protect there claims. Still many active mines out there. Popular phrase in Arizona is “armed people makes for a polite people”. The picture of the stone building is in Groom Creek, AZ, a one room school house built in 1896. Dean

What picture?
I believe this site is called SoCal Trailriders, not AZ trail riders, please refrain from posting about all these great trails we are not getting to ride. And no I'm not jealous....well, maybe just a little.
