Default RR: Chantry / Mt Zion / Sturtevant

So this morning, 0gravity, his girl Katie, and I... hit up the upper wintercreek/mt. zion/ sturtevant/gabrielino loop from Chantry.

Always one of my favorites, this trail delivers. So close to LA, yet so far away feeling. The rain yesterday made this place come alive. Everything was super lush and green, the dirty was super tacky... and the rocks were slippery . A beautiful day out there.

Had the usual Hans sighting in the San Gabs... he was riding the loop backwards, interesting!

I had my wheels re-tensioned on the niner, they were WAY out of whack.... what a difference to be able to put confidence in a solid set of wheels and not feel like they were about to taco!

on to the pics:
the overall vibe of the day

katie approaching some chunk

posin' in the corner

ridin the edge

some flow in the lushness

getting foggy up ahead

almost to the bottom of Zion

0gravity hopping in the switchback corner

she did me lovely today

Nice, hard getting good pictures there...no light. Hows the Poison Oak? We ran into Hans last week on our San Gab ride...boy gets around. Hans is strong, remember he climbs Ken Burton.

P.O. was in full bloom, but easily avoidable.

Great RR! My first Chantry ride was in the rain.
It's funny, I was thinking about riding there yesterday.
Nice looking Niner.

Great rr, I rode Winter Creek last Sat., and yes, the poison oak is in full bloom. My buddy took a little tumble off the side of the trail, and he's covered! Sucks to be him right now.

Default so O gravity...

if Katie is riding this trail she's got some skills. That trail is all about "technical places, steep descents, riding near cliff-faces... http://www.socaltrailriders.org/foru...4&postcount=19
hope to catch you guys on the trail sometime soon.

Lynn, we should make a point of it to all get out for a ride.

SheClimbs, thanks for the flattering comment about my girl but Katie definitely--happily--walks the technicals. In fact, in that badass looking shot, that's moments before foot-touchdown (perfect shoot, though, Burner). Well, I shouldn't talk, I only got a couple feet farther before seeing the off-ramp and just about having a heart-attack. But as Burner says, we should meet up for rides. She'd welcome some lady riders to balance out riding with us smelly boys all the time!

I will be back in town this weekend, how about a Rattlesnake Gabrielino run.

The Utah trip we postponed last week may take place this week, so I may be gone. Anybody else want to go to Utah? Leave Friday night and come back Monday night.

OK. I will just ride out there both weekends. Remember Shannon and Bruce will be in town in a couple of weeks.

What's the word? I'd be pyched to check out a new trail, that Gabrielino / Rattlesnake. Anything new up the San Gabes would be great. I'm down for either day, but Sat might be better. My girl is down, and so is Burner (others?).

PS: Yep, PO is in full bloom. I managed to get a virulent patch started up on my ear of all places! Damn. If I don't get this stalled by the weekend, you might have to talk to me in the other ear.

No preride. I dumped it in a rock garden today on Mt. Elden and scratched the uppers on my Z1. By the time I got off the mountain the wiperseal was leaking oil. I could SS it but I am 7 days straight riding and I am beat. Let me see what The Path has to say about my fork.
