Default I going to Vegas

I should properly do more research on other boards, but this weekend I am going to Lost Wages with my girlfriend for a cop baker to vegas relay race. I really do not want to go but I am a nice guy. Anyways long question short. Can anybody point out some easy trails out in Vegas for my girlfriend to ride? She has never been on even a fire road so at this time I would like her to just get out. I was looking into Bootleg but that might be a little too technical at this time. Although it would be a cool ride to ride to Lake Mead Dam and take the tour of the dam. I don't mind single track stuff for her just not too much technical downhill stuff. I would like to get her into riding with me. Sorry another question, anybody recommand a decent bike store to rent a bike for her that is close to a trail?

The only thing easy in Vegas are the hookers. HA! Sorry I couldn't resist. I would think the fireroads out there would be quite sandy though. No fun.

Default Cottonwood Canyon

There are some easy fun single tracks in Cottonwood Canyon, 12 miles West of Las Vegas Blvd on Blue Diamond Highway(hwy 160). I was there a couple of weeks ago. Have her try riding the "Late Night" trail to see how she likes it.
Look for a parking lot on the right side of the highway and there is a map on the trail head sign.
Navigation is easy because of the low vegatation. You can't get lost.
The trails down by the town of Blue Diamond are a little tougher.

Bootleg Canyon has something for everybody!

Bootleg Canyon

This place is right near Bootleg Canyon. So close you can throw a rock! They have everything you need.

Default Blue Diamond - Cottonwood

Some fairly easy trails here. Pick up a map at the Bike Outpost in Blue Diamond. Put some leg protection on her for peace of mind - no matter what trail your on sharp edges just about everywhere. Have fun!

Forget Bootleg for a beginner. I second the recommendation for Cottonwood Trails. The bike store in Blue Diamond rents bikes and offers free maps.

If you start in Blue Diamond there's a little climbing but nothing too bad if she's in reasonable shape. Otherwise Chopper's advise on the Late Night trailhead is a good idea.

Here's a link to the trails in the area:Las Vegas Area Trails

Have fun.

I truly believe that this is a misconception! There is very easy stuff @ Bootleg too. It isn't all hardcore DH stuff. My wife went there with me on her '92 Trek and had a blast! Look at their webpage, there is stuff for everyone. Sure, all you hear about is their bad ass DH runs and the jump park but there are some easy XC trails too!

Thanks guys for all the information. I decided to go to a trail off of Blue Diamond Hwy in Blue Diamond. It was her first time and and let me tell you first of all it was fun out their. Although the trails were not marked and I was worried if I was going on private property or not. The maps that were offered at Bike Outpost were not very informative. We went to Bike Outpost to rent her a bike and I will never give my money never again to Bike S@#t post. The bike we rented for my girlfriend was a Cannondale FS Bike but it was in poor shape and I started looking at all the other rental bikes their and it looked like all his bikes out their were not very well taken care. I understand that these are rental bikes but they are not worth the 37.50 per day rental. I also wanted to say that the guy running the shop was some UK (brit) guy who was real rude and it seemed like I was bothering him with questions when I was the paying customer. The only reason I went their was it was real close to the trails out their and we could ride out from the parking lot. This place was the worst experience I have ever had in a bike rental or bike shop.
