I’m done riding for about 3-6 week’s if not longer. I finished off my shoulder yesterday, which has been bothering me for the last year. The doc said I have sprain of the a-c joint which holds the collar bone to the shoulder, and that I have to see a bone specialist tomorrow.
I was riding Canyon acres and hit the big jump like normal, but about 5-10” past the landing everything went wrong, I remember my left hand coming off the bar’s while I was riding a nose manual till the wheel turned and I went face first into the ground, flipped over a couple time’s. When I finally came to a stop I could’t breathe or get into comfortable place on the ground. My buddy Evil was behind me when it happened, luckily he’s a EMT, Franky pulled up just behind him it took me awhile before I was able to hike out. We loaded up and went to the ER. It’s a good thing, I where my full-face helmet 99% of the time, I got a chance to look at it in the ER. The left side of the facemask is cracked. That was all I noticed yesterday when I looked at it today I got to see everything else the right side has a crack on the front and some good scratches on the side. Good thing I just got it, this past Christmas. I have to say the Giro Remedy is a good helmet it took a pretty hard beating. Here is a list of my other injuries a busted lip, a cut above the eye, a nice rash from my helmet, and scratch’s on my back arm and leg’s. here's a few pic's with my phone I'll get better one's later. |

Wow, you realize how much force it takes to crack that helmet?
Oh yeah, I guess you do. Get well soon

Sorry to hear that, hope you get well soon.
Sounds like you had a great helmet. With stories like this, I just don't get the people on the trails that don't wear them!!!

Sorry to hear about your shoulder! On the bright side . . . it could have been worse. Luckily like you said you had your full face. Heal up, bro!

Very sorry to hear about this. I don't know what I would do if I had to be off the bike that long.

i broke the side of my Specialized Deviant helmet worse than that at Fontucky! (but i don't remember much from that day LOL)
as far as the AC joint goes, i have had a grade 2 separation of the AC joint before. you shouldn't be off the bike for too long (as long as you can take it easy and do XC rides for a while). i was only off the bike for 2 weeks when i did mine, 2 weeks after i injured it we had plans to do a mtb tour of the southwest (NV, UT, CO, AZ). the best advice that i can give you is to go to a good PT and get it worked on. my PT gave me an electro-stimulator device to aid in healing and i think it worked. this isn't to say that you should be 100%, that will take months! here is a pic of me riding 2.5 weeks afterward on Thunder Mnt. ![]() |

Chris Doooood!,
Sorry to hear about the crash. I know what it's like to be injured unfortunately. It was a good thing you had friends to help you. I was in the same situation and Jason and Joe were there to get help and help me. I hope and pray for a speedy recovery. Keep your head up. Lor |

Chris let me know how much the heli-ambulance bill is. Very time I think of doing something I should not be doing hopefully thinking of the med bills stop me.
I self insure and I know my policy does not cover helicopter or ambulance rides. Dean

No it doesn't. A sixpack and a motorcycle will make up for any lack of talent.
Sorry hear about the sprain Mosh. Hope that heals quickly for you.
